Looks like a good spec for the money.
Are Gearbest any good?
Anybody got any experience of this phone?
Gearbest are the worst company to deal with. Go look up what happens if you need to send anything back to them and work out how much money you lose.

It's probably true of buying 'grey' in general and not a specific issue with Gearbest though? I've never had anything from them that needed to be sent back.

Go read their website and see how much they will refund you if you send anything back.

They will rip you off like they do everybody else. The only idiot is you. They only refund 50%. If you ask for a replacement they will charge you for expensive shipping too. I've had to deal with them in the past. They are nothing but a ripoff.

1)Refund 50% of the product to your wallet for your future purchase
The product value is $29.99 usd we can refund $15 usd back to your wallet and exceptionally reward you with extra points (e.g. If your item is 1usd = 5 points ,3usd=3*5 points => get 15 points etc).
You can use both your wallet and points to purchase your future products.
Wallet link: gearbest.com/abo…tml

Points link: gearbest.com/abo…rew

2) 50% refund to your credit card or Paypal
In that case we can refund $ 15usd back to you.

3) Reship the order
We can reship the order . For this, please kindly send us 50 % of the order value so that we can arrange the shipment

Purchased this phone for a test last year:
Pros: good size, good screen, quite fast, dual sim, available OTA update to Android 7.0, USB-C, usb-host, metal case, really BIG battery
Cons: fingeprint scanner unreliable and slow (comparing to Huawei P9), lack of accesories, Android update unstable and buggy (reverted back to 6.0), clean android which means you have to fiddle with settings, especialy if you don't want google everywhere (I prefer different launcher and e-mail client different than google mail), lack NFC

If you really want UMI - search for offers on aliexpress. If you really want a decent phone - add few quids and look for something like Huawei P9 lite

if I'm being completely honest here then I would be happy for a sub £100 of this kinda spec and brand to do me 6 months and if it lasts longer then it's a plus for me. I class a phone at this price bracket as disposable. I know most people won't agree with me on these points but when it comes to it I'm just giving my opinion . For £100, if it becomes faulty I'll take a credit to my gearbest wallet and if it breaks then it's for the bin. That's how I roll......like a sausage!

Who goes through all that hassle?........just put a Paypal claim in, only … Who goes through all that hassle?........just put a Paypal claim in, only ever had 3 items (out of over 100 items) from Gearbest / Banggood that were broken/missing and yes they do try to play you up, which is why you do it through Paypal, not Gearbest - Paypal are well aware how much it is to send the item back to China, and of course the shenanigans both companies will try to pull on you and with a calm phone call to them they have always come through with a full refund.Oh, and if Gearbest/Banggood ask you to close the claim before being refund/or so they can do so, DON'T! They know full well once a claim is closed you can't re-open it again in Paypal. You have 180 days (I think) to put a Paypal claim in - if it's after that then rock and hard place springs to mind.

Been there and done that because Gearbest want the item sent back via a specific tracking service that costs a fortune. Paypal said they wouldn't do a thing unless that part was completed. It costs you a fortune whichever way you try and get your money back.

Go buy stuff from them if you want to but don't come crying if you get stung by them.

Would have seriously considered purchasing this if not for the built-in battery. Heat anyways.

I'm sure if it were your kids working in the mines to produce these phones, you might value them a little more.

I purchased this phone from Amazon UK for around £128 and was a seriously good bit of kit.

It is a metal unibody, nice screen which is very responsive, fast processor (for the price) and is getting an update to Android 7.

However this is one big BUT, that is the size and weight of the phone. It was the heaviest phone I have ever used and think it weighs close to 200g and is very thick. While it makes the phone feel solid and sturdy, it is just too big and heavy to have in your pockets and I sent it back for this exact reason!

lol!
Looks a lot of phone for the money, but it would have to be a tenth of that before I'd risk using Gearbest again.

Absolutely agree. I bought something that died after an hour. Just wouldn't boot, nothing. They kept asking for a photo of the problem. Seriously. Sending a photo of a piece of plastic as it looked on their website.

I tried to get a refund through PayPal, but Gearbest seem to have thwarting that down to a fine art.

I love cheap, but i will never buy another thing, at any price, from this outfit.
if you are paying with paypal, and you have done nothing wrong, you will be okay so I don't know why people who don#t understand internet buying are talking silly for.. Especially if you have good standing with paypal they will help you.

in any case, the nearest phone to this spec is at LEAST £230 so great deal
really good phone for the specs, is it too good to be true though? i really like the notification light that you can customise. that's pretty rad. of course bare in mind you will pay 20% import vat and handling fees.
