Thank you for the advice. I listened to the sample and think the voice is terrible. I don’t think I could listen to that for long (no doubt she would not want to listen to my accent reading anything).

It is a really awful voice, I persevered with Pride and Prej as I was on a long drive with no easy alternative, but every time she said Mary as ‘Marry’ I wanted to scream!

Oh... for a good "classics" audiobook, try something like Miriam Margolyes reading Bleak House. The narrator can really make or break a book.

You are right it does make a difference I like it best when it’s the actual author - bit hard sometimes !
