Uncle Ben's is decent quality, but I think what most people like about it is the convenience of how easy and quick it is to cook.

Yeah was more quality i was after... never had Uncle Ben's Boil in bag before.

Boil is the bag rice is heat treated, ("easy cook rice") that's why is stays less sticky, al;though it badly affects the taste. (Far better to learn how to cook long grain rice rather than use this type)

Even if you want to use it, any brand of easy cook rice is way , way cheaper than this @£3.52 /kg (including Uncle Ben's!) and where the bag makes it any easier is a mystery to me as it is FAR easier to drain in a colander and just dump on the plate rather than fiddle about burning your fingers on the stream from the bag!

Prices shown here illustrate the point: supermarketownbrandguide.co.uk/sea….00 are from £1 /kg ie. the bag is making it up to 3.5X the price!

Must admit i find microwave rice very quick and easy. As for the flavour-rice is pretty bland on its own anyway.

This isn't microwave rice though... it is boil in the bag, it is no quicker to cook than any other easy cook rice that's not in the bag!
I have the odd pack of microwave rice handy myself, for read-meal type convenience it does taste rather like easy cook rice too, but it is a lot more expensive even than boil in the bag too, but it is quick, so you are paying for the convenience.

If you can't taste the difference, between easy cook and standard long grain rice, (or microwave rice) then just eat the Tea towel, and save the bother of cooking at all! :whistling:
