And what exactly is the benefit of spending ages cooking rather than 2 min in the microwave other than saving a few pence? And at this price it's a no brainer

The Peshwari one has high fructose corn syrup in it albeit by another name. Hardly natural. Still, a good deal if you like that sort of thing. Voted hot.

Once again a ONE OFF in this store only deal! and then the OP doesn't tell where it is why? sainsburys.co.uk/web…%3D

Basmati rice is ridiculously easy to cook, there's no need for this overpriced microwave ****.

Get a 3 quid milk pan, or something big if you want to cook more
Pop in half a cup of rice and a cup of water in it (1:2 ratio, reduce quantity but maintain ratio)
Put a glass lid on it. medium flame, it'll cook itself for 8-10 mins.
Once the water bubbles/evaporates, take off the lid and check to see the water's gone.

Done!

How does telling us how to cook basmati rice make this less of a deal?

Maybe people choose products like this for work when they have limited time and cooking facilities available.

This is not a one off unless the OP went to my local-ish. If you are in Craigleith then there are quite a few for you there (or there were a couple of hours ago)

Alternatively;
- tear top off the packet rice, place in microwave, press button and 2 minutes later eat rice.

All done, dusted and enjoyed long before the saucepan has even left the hob.
Leaving plenty of time to enjoy; the gym, Eastenders, COD, FB, HUKD, work, the paper, etc.!

To be fair just because it says its all natural doesn't mean it hasn't been chemically altered, they can do all kinda of stuff to it but as long as it originated from a natural source they can get away with calling it natural, which surprised me. You can't trust labeling especially on food lol

That was a honest attempt of being unable to hide one's own personality. I have to say that your comment was very rude, I am afraid. I like Biriyani and I am sure a lot of people do. Just out of interest...then, what 'crap' do you eat?

Edited by: "kkthomask" 7th Jan 2015

I'd buy the lot if I'd seen it in store! These are great for workplace microwave lunches or a quick solo dinner, Tilda are nicer - Uncle Bens more like Pot Noodle / Walkers Crisps flavours but who could argue with 20p...

Notice how Rimi has went quiet!!!!

I am off to grab myself a bargain tomorrow. Hope there are plenty left!!

or you could buy a new pan...bag of rice...seasonings... sauces...oil...other ingredients...& then hope .to make a plate of rice

Feel sorry for all you mental patients... eat this crap and be happy! What a fools generation grows in the uk...even same "uncle bens" tells that only 3 of 10 cooks at home an uses these 7 to buy ready made product. Clever he is...
all fools you are....
You pay 20p now, next day you'll be buying same crap for £1.50 Good luck!

Why? You don't know he voted cold and secondly he has a point. Not saying I don't have a cheat day once a week

I cook my chicken, individually bag and freeze for lunches. These are a godsend for me. Busy job and need something healthy and easy. So much heat OP!

Think it might be national as 2 sainsburys stores in glasgow also had this offer its a discontinued line. also included the spicy egg fried rice and Mexican & lime varietys. bought a load of the peshwari ones they'll do for quick sides with meals for me and the OH
