Does this game need any introduction at this point?

In UNDERTALE you play as a human child who falls underground into the
world of monsters. Now you must find your way out... or stay trapped
forever.

Welcome to UNDERTALE, an RPG game where you don't have to kill anyone.
Each enemy can be "defeated" nonviolently. Dance with a slime. Pet a
dog. Whisper your favorite secret to a knight.

Or, ignore this choice and rain destruction upon your foes.

But your journey will take determination. Each adversary has unique
bullet patterns that you must dodge as well (don't worry, it's not that
hard).

  • Killing is unnecessary: negotiate out of danger using the unique battle system.
  • Time your attacks for extra damage, then dodge enemy attacks in a style reminiscent of top-down shooters.
  • Soulful, character-rich story with an emphasis on humor.
  • Created mostly by one person.
  • Become friends with all of the bosses!
  • At least 5 dogs.

No excuse not to own this. Great price.
I wanted to love it but although an impressive feat/accomplishment for a single person, if just didn’t think it was very good.

Has charm and some good characters/dialogue but I thought it hugely overrated.

It's appeal is more in how it comments on the nature of video games and breaking the 4th wall rather than purely it's gameplay.

Plus, it's music is really good.
Really enjoyed this game, only weakness with it was that the way most people will play this game, their second playthrough will be 80% the same as their first. Could have done with more things playing out differently between the two most common playthroughs.
Overhyped nonsense of a game to be honest. But I can't stand turned based combat/games.

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from here. Undertale is an homage to the quirkiness of the Mother (Earthbound) series which isn't for everyone.

The nonsensical aspect is just a small part of this games charm! Also Undertale is more of a "bullet hell" than a turn based game. Don't want to misssell it to any JRPG fans
