For the first time ever, eight of the most iconic cinematic masterpieces of the horror genre are available together on Blu-ray as Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection. Digitally restored in perfect high-definition picture and perfect high-definition sound. This essential set includes a never-before-seen featurette about the restoration of Dracula and the first ever offering of Creature From The Black Lagoon in its restored Blu-ray 3D version.

Dracula
The original 1931 movie version of Bram Stoker's classic tale has for generations defined the iconic look and terrifying persona of the famed vampire. Dracula owes its continued appeal in large part due to Bela Lugosi's indelible portrayal of the immortal Count Dracula and the flawless direction of horror auteur Tod Browning.

Frankenstein
Boris Karloff stars as the screen's most tragic and iconic monster in what many consider to be the greatest horror film ever made. Dr. Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) dares to tamper with the essential nature of life and death by creating a monster (Karloff) out of lifeless human body parts.

The Mummy
Horror icon Boris Karloff stars in the original 1932 version of The Mummy in which a team of British archaeologists accidentally revives a mummified high priest after 3,700 years. Alive again, he sets out on an obsessive-and deadly-quest to find his lost love.

The Invisible Man
Claude Rains delivers an unforgettable performance in his screen debut as a mysterious doctor who discovers a serum that makes him invisible. Covered by bandages and dark glasses, Rains arrives in a small English village and attempts to hide his amazing discovery, but the drug'

They were made between 1931 and 1954 ;-)

I haven't seen the Invisible Man in ages.

I've got this on DVD & Blu-Ray and it looks amazing.

Movie film has more resolution than 1080p HD, so yes you will see a noticeable improvement over the DVD.
Just look at how amazing the original Star Trek series looks on Blu-Ray and that was shot on 16mm film, not even 35mm.

35mm film is higher resolution than Blu Ray can display, so this is not an issue.

yeah I paid £17.50 for this on amazon about 2 wks ago but it's so good I don't mind a bit.

If you're a fan of these movies you have to buy this it's such a great boxset and it's much cheaper than buying them individually. Great price. For fans of the ssequels they are releasing the legacy boxsets again with the Abbot and Costello films included, you can buy a boxset with them all or individually (I have the Wildman and invisible man ones so just looking to purchase Frankenstein, creature and maybe Dracula) this is only being released in US but may be region free although most DVD players and bluray players can be made multi region to play non-uk dvds.

The boxset is expensive, I'd wait a while it should drop. The Legacy collections were released years ago but they're very hard to find at decent prices, these are the legacy collections released again but they have the Abbott and costello films added too,
I have the original Invisible man and Wolfman Legacy boxsets, I'm not fussed about the Abbott and Costello films so I'm going to purchase the legacy boxsets seperately as I'm after 'The creature'..'Frankenstein' and possibly the Mummy one, can't say I'm a huge fan of Universals Dracula so I'm quite happy with just the Dracula movie I already have.
Buy them seprately if you're only after certain ones (The Invisible man set is the best for me as the sequels are not bad at all and the Invisible man is the greatest of the Universal monster films in my opinion).
Heres a link via Amazon.com to the Frankenstein Legacy boxset - all the others are available for preorder.

I've still got the original one, and I never opened it as the price rocketed to ridiculous amounts.
