If you are going to use this for home broadband, the hardware that you use is going to have a massive impact on your experience.
The amount of antennas that you are using is going to make a huge impact.
MiMo technology on the hardware you use basically means how much antennas that your hardware has.
Older iphones and android phones and even the iPhone XR have 2*2 MiMo and higher end smartphones like the iPhone XS have 4*4 Mimo.
    howtogeek.com/394…it/
I experienced double download speeds on a 4*4 phone in my area.

This is really important because 3 is probably the worst network in the UK for signal, regardless what people say on this forum data shows it is lagging behind Vodafone for Scotland and EE for England.

    37782014-W4kFk.jpg
    37782014-K4PgF.jpg
Even though the second image is for East of England, the graph is identical for the whole of England.

I have worked in Public sector in Scotland and can confirm that my local council used Vodafone and that the NHS also used Vodafone, there is a reason for that.

Although EE and Vodafone can get away with bad hardware, three cannot.

Older phones and routers like the B311 are going to get abysmal speeds, it is not worth your time at all.

Buying new equipment can be expensive and the difference in price between 2*2 MiMo equipment and 4*4 MiMo equipment can be hundreds of pounds.

    Most common 2*2 MiMo routers,
    Huawei B525
    AI Cube
    TP Link routers

    Most common 4*4 MiMo routers,
    Huawei B618
    Huawei B612
    Nighthawk M1

Next we have an external antenna can potentially be good but can also be a waste of money.
Outdoor antennas with large lengths of cable will degrade signal quality, they should only be used in extremely rural areas or you will get worse signal with them.

Indoor antennas with short cable lengths will not degrade signal and they will increase your signal for all 2*2 routers and some
    4*4 routers.
The reason for this is because when you use external antennas with a 4*4 router, i turns into a 2*2 router as 2 of the internal antennas are deactivated.

You can mod some 4*4 routers like the nighthawk M1 by opening it up and soldering to accept 4 antennas for example,

    37782014-8H2zg.jpg

Good hardware combined with this awful network turns it into the best network in the UK.
Sorry for the long post, I wasted time and money buying outdoor antennas and rubbish hardware and thought id post this to see if it would help anyone!

Only trouble with this deal is it is 24mths where the normal all you can eat has been 12mths for £20 in the last few months but now crafty 3 have up it to 24mths.
Still a good deal if you are not going to move for a while.
i like 3 been with them for about 12yrs off an on moved a couple of times but always return.

Is this the start of two year SIM only deals?!

Seeing as the competition for SIMO deals is so competitive, maybe they've decided to only start offering these low priced big data bundled deals on only a two year contact.

So we might not see £20 unlimited data deals on a 12 month contract again!

    I can see it now, being the new norm to offer a three tiered pricing structure, for example;
    - £30 a month for a 30 day rolling contract.
    - £25 a month for a 12 month contract.
    - £20 a month for a 24 month contract.

They'll then market it as rewarding their most loyal customers who sign up to a two year deal. When in actual fact it will be the same price as they use to offer on 12 month deals, and gives them an excuse to increase prices now on the 12 and 1 month contract a too!

    Damn aren't I a cynic!

Directly from the Three T&Cs:Feel At Home is an additional service which Three makes available to its customers. Three reserves the right to extend, withdraw or modify the terms of Feel At Home and/or the destinations included at any time.Customers cannot use their smartphone as a modem to connect other devices such as laptops and tablets - also known as “tethering”, in the destinations listed above.

Yes you can. Have a look at the Advanced plan t&c’s here three.co.uk/ter…pdf on page 3 it says

Tethering your device and using it on the go (or at home) with Personal Hotspot – you can use all or any of your data allowance to create a personal hotspot within the UK, or in our Go Roam in Europe destinations

If you go through Quidco there's £60 cashback on this sim - I was looking at this yesterday. I'd get one if the hotspot was unlimited, but not if they limit it to 12GB.

Although according to link it says Ofcoms ruling in 2018 - you can now tether all of your data. (edited)

Voted cold, because I got the 12 months contract, 24 months is a too long commitment. Voted cold because even though they offer unlimited internet they haven't fixed their 4g issues in my postcode, after many technical explanations and attempts, I stick to 3G HSPA+ instead of 4G. Unless you can negotiate reductions on your monthly bill their internet is not worth the money asked for. Plus they recently scrapped the "inTouch" wifi calling app, meaning that if your phone doesn't have the right firmware it won't switch to wifi call when needed.

It’s the only one I’ve seen where you can use all the data allowance tethered and/or roaming. Others seem to have limits of say 30gb per month for roaming/tethering

The personal hotspot allowance is unlimited (click on Personal Hotspot - "With Personal Hotspot, you can use your existing data allowance to connect other devices to your phone and get online. Pretty handy when there's no Wi-Fi.").

The 12 month contract is further down the page, @ £22pm

It's unlimited for the phone number given, so if you're talking about giving data to your kids on their own phones then the answers no (except if the connect via WiFi to your phone as a hotspot)

That's the reason why I left. 4G was a dream in High Wycombe. 3G was faster than 4G. In south London near GMT line, I was hitting 75mb on 4G, so I guess its a location dependent thing.

Got the 12 month version of this contract and now cancelling the landline. I'm out in the hills and it's given me 30Mbs instead of the pathetic 4Mbps of the landline. Checked my usage and got through 150GB in March. Getting nowhere near the 1000GB per month entitlement.

You can always negotiate better prices on their live chat which is good imo. Just say you want a price plan change and they’ll be happy to change it for you. There will be a £3 fee but if you ask them to waive it they’ll do that as well. What I love about Mobile networks is that the discounts stay on unlike Sky TV which goes up in price after the contract. Currently paying £13 a month for unlimited everything on a 12 month contract which will turn into a 30 day rolling contract after my contract ends. You just have to say the right things on the live chat (edited)
