Smarty have brought this deal back and are now, apparently, offering the unlimited everything "for life".

No throttling or fair use policy either, apparently.

Contact the mods about this - I tried but it comes up with user doesnt allowed to receive messages.

Good luck getting it sorted and message me when you're done

Did you get an explanation from them as to why you cant send/receive messages? That seems odd as you're not a new user or anything

No nothing yet. My PMs says I’m setup. If I view your profile it says This user has disabled messages.
As Tjl694 has stated, watch out for that roaming data restriction it shares with 3.Vodafone / BT mobile have no such restriction if that is important to you.

Hmm, so when you need help, there's a big delay, but if someone wants to remove another member's comment, it happens straight away - that doesn't seem quite right to me.

I've sent and received pm's today with no issues until I try to message you.

Ooops - still doesn’t work
Does smarty preform slower than 3? Like I noticed with VOXI it’s heavily reduced vs Vodafone direct same for giffgaff vs 02. VOXI I’m struggling to get signal in important areas so might switch until Black Friday 11 Pro sales.
Have this sim, no probs so far! Works great, it’s used in 4g samsung tablet mostly by the kids on long car journeys holidays etc . As for Roaming limit it’s 19gb in EU apparently same as 3. Cash back tracked and is payable, and for referrals you get a free month!
Are you allowed to use hotspot/tethering with the unlimited data please? Great deal BTW voted hot.

Yes. Go for it. Plan details "Unlimited 4G & 3G data. No speed restrictions. 1 month plan. cancel anytime. No credit check. Tethering/personal hotspot included. Unlimited calls & texts."

"You’re entitled to use your data however you like, no matter which of the SMARTY plans you're on, so you can tether and use your phone as a mobile hot spot with your full allowance if you want to.

The only exception to this is the Unlimited plan and if you're roaming, where you'll be limited to 19GB."

I'd assume it's some kind of modem with sim-card support?

I think I am being thick, what does that mean "The only exception to this is the Unlimited plan and if you're roaming, where you'll be limited to 19GB." How can Unlimited be limited? Are they saying you can't tether if you are on unlimited plan for more than 19BG?

I've got a wifi router with data sim slot so just wanted to stick it in that and get unlimited data, is that possible? Not looking to use it as any permanent home bb solution, I'm moving house this week and just wanted it while I wait for the landline broadband to be installed.

It's limited to 19GB when travelling outside the country/abroad. if you aren't using said router overseas it's totally Unlimited.

Erm...... Totally unlimited means max 1000gb!?! See T's and C's 'fair usage'.

I'm in Spain right now and can confirm they cut your data connection bang on 19Gb. Shouldn't have shared my WiFi with kids and parents! Handy while it lasted though. Just changed APN in 4g router as per Smarty website. Plug in router on arrival in hotel and you have your 'home' 4g broadband with you.

Smarty Unlimited Fair Usage Policy

With our Unlimited plan there’s no hidden ‘fair use policies’ within the UK, giving you all the access to the Internet you’d need without worrying about hefty bills and no data speed restrictions. Even if you used your phone for every minute of every day, you’d only use around 1,000GB each month. We’ve set a usage cap at 1,000GB in order to identify commercial use of our service for example, which is not permitted under our terms.

1000GB is a lot though which i doubt is used up within a month for most people, this is due to commercial use. I download 4K videos and don't go near that on holiday. I'm a video editor and web developer. At home on VM 350 package I probably use about 1-2TB a month lol.

I use mob.asm.net APN but Three's official seems to work the same, only downside is signal here is weak (1 bar 3G) even though website does say 'excellent' 4G + SuperVoice ofc it's only a guide checker but i'd expect to be saying no 4G than excellent.

Yeah, I was hitting 60-70Gb/day when BBC were steaming Wimbledon in their super duper 40mbps UHD which looked great and worked flawlessly (using up to 18Gb/hour!!!!). Other UHD streaming has much lower bandwidth requirements. I usually use 500Gb/month watching a little UHD per day. 1000Gb is good for 165 hours of UHD Netflix.

Smarty works great, particularly in low population density rural areas.

Ah such a pity it uses the three network, on vodafone or EE this would be super.
This will be an amazing deal once they get 5G as well, since 3 have three times the amount of 5G spectrum than everybody else... the 1000GB limit is the same as 3 and that's so you aren't running your office off of it or something crazy...

Yeah, unfortunately for me I've had to leave Smarty already due to no service. Vodafone (who i hated) have 3-bar 4G so gonna try find a Vodafone sim today and pop it in my WiFi dongle. More expensive than Smarty but it's only 2 weeks (3o day min) then I go home. Seems Vodafone have come a long way since I last used them (in 2010 lol) couldn't get service anywhere back then.

How long would 100gb last you with 5g though?

I have Three Unlimited sim at the moment, and 4g speed is a joke, and 3g not much better. I can still cancel within 14 days. but do i gamble on waiting for 5g? since the upgrade is free supposedly... or pay more elsewhere. hmm

I'm staying with them because I now have a 5G phone, if you don't / plan to have one then perhaps might be better going with Virgin... I have unlimited data for £15 on Three atm (if they increase i'll move to Smarty) so I put up with them because they are waaaaay cheaper and it's only way I'm going to get 5G without paying like £45/month (sim only) for it
