Unlimited Fibre Broadband and Line Rental - No Contract - SSE - £28 (Energy Customers)

Ok, this one looks good. SSE are offering their energy customers unlimited fibre broadband for £28 a month. Admittedly there are cheaper deals out there, but the clincher for this one is no 12/18 month contract

You get a router included, no mention of a delivery fee, and no connection charge.

This price is for the 38mb fibre, it's an extra £7 for the 76mb fibre.

Seems to be a decent price but the added bonus of no contract means that if an amazing deal comes up somewhere else you're free to go (though you need to return the router if you cancel in the first 12 months)

An extra £5 a month if you're not an SSE energy customer (I am)

If you're not already an SSE Energy customer
Non-SSE Energy customers will pay a £5 per month surcharge on their Phone and Broadband package. A one off initial £50 connection fee is also applicable and will be applied to the first monthly bill.

How are you defining 'better'? Cheaper? Better customer support? Faster speeds?

The votes here explain that in a blue color dude
Absolute dreadful broadband. I've just come out of contract. Run by the daisy networks, unlimited downloads however heavily throttled. I'd really try someone else

They used to be great, I used them for over a year, but lately it became impossible to play some games online. Moved back to virgin and not had an issue since.
I should add that general internet use was never an issue though.
Read up on people's reviews on the 'unofficial' forum - discussisp.com - There is a mix of people. Most of the bad reviews are from a while ago, so maybe things have improved ?
Left SSE when they sent the nasty letter about energy price rises with no explanation
awful... can not wait to leave their broadband
If you value your sanity don't touch this with a bargepole - throttled from 55mbps during the day to 2mbps every evening.

on normal use? (ie not torrent crap)
I'm with them on the 76mb service, don't get throttled at all, apart from torrents, which I only downloaded to test after seeing others saying they were getting bad speeds (I got 37kb hahaha) but newgroups downloads I max out my 40mb limit on an evening no problem.
I'm coming to the end of an 18 month contract with them £23/month inc 76mb fibre, line rental and anytime calls. Have to agree with the others, great during the day but throttled to death of an evening.
Have complained and complained and to their credit i have had a lot of money back but don't think i will stay once my contract is up.
I'm on the 18 month for £21 contract for the line rental and 'free fibre'. I haven't had any problems honestly, at the beginning I wasn't sure about download speeds but I think it was less about throttling and just our area. Our area does only get 17mb fibre - which is very disappointing but thats across the board. But once I began streaming all of my content and its brilliant - paid or unpaid services worked great.

If the price was right - I'd be happy to stay - but if not, Talk Talks prices stay the same later in the year, I think we'll go there.

Yes on normal use - running speedtests at testmy.net.
It started off not quite good then after a few months the throttling started. Many many phone calls later they temporarily stopped the throttling however it soon kicked back in. Search hotukdeals for the mega thread on the
