Been after a web host for a while and came across these guys, website hosting for anyone new to this sort of thing is basically paying someone to host your website for you.

They offer 24x7 UK support who have in my experience responded within 15 minutes of asking a question, even at midnight!

Use code SUNSHINE40 for 40% off for 3 months!! (Ends Sunday)

I chose these guys because they offer superb support and have great reviews on TrustPilot: uk.trustpilot.com/rev….uk

From the site:

One Account. No Limits. No Contracts
Just Fast, UK Unlimited Web Hosting with cPanel Control Panel

While I would tend to agree normally, if you look at any of their online reviews - they come highly rated. No problems so far!

If you look at what they say, you will find out they only mention you will have unlimited storage, nothing else. The cheapest thing in hosting is storage. You will end up with low performance machine and IP that shares with hundreds of websites

To be fair to them they state: We use the latest in Dell Hardware with SSD storage, along with CISCO Networks, OnAPP Cloud and cPanel Control Panel to deliver the best web hosting performance from our UK-based data centres.
'Unlimited' seems difficult to deliver. I seem to remember Microsoft once offered it and then some people 75TB on there and they had to stop offering it.
Does the £2.49 include VAT? Thanks.

I think VAT is extra - which brings it to just under £3

Perhaps, though I use them and have no problems with speed or storage limits. Also its Unlimited hosting of things on your website I believe, not just random files.

Site conventions suggests that the deal title should indicate VAT-inclusive price (in this case £2.99 inc VAT), but regardless: this seems to be a great deal for the stated services especially considering the UK base and support. Heat.
looks like a nice deal! thanks for posting

They do seem to be very good in my experience.
would rather use a vps at this price, anyone needing 'unlimited' space wouldn't use shared hosting

Where can you get a VPS for this kinda price?

Fair enough. I would wonder how good a VPS is for that price, personally I prefer a brand with great online reviews and whom offers great support. Each to their own
OVH is massive in web hosting/dedicated servers. SLA, extra IP's for geo location, dedicated resources, full control over your panel, RAID storage.

'Unlimited' hosting can attract the wrong type of customers sometimes, i'm not saying all the time :P
i used to have one of those ovh vps (ssd) as above poster mentioned. u get a LOT for your money. 1 core , 512mb or 1gb ram , 10gb SSD space with 10tb transfer i believe. i ran a VPN, basic WEBSITE (NON DATABASE) + TEAMSPEAK server on it.
addition to abive :

also on a 100 m/bit connection for yourself.

Never trust cheap.

Never trust expensive. It's exactly the same quality as cheap - but they charge you more for it.

BTW. I've been using the same UK based hosting since 2010. £10 / year for all the usual stuff. No failures, no problems, no fuss, no drama. And no, I'm not going to spoil the service by telling you who it is with.
been using them for 9 or 10 months now, cant fault them, excellent customer service too

I have a reseller account with them which I've had for nearly a year.

Their customer support is faultless, most minor issues are sorted out immediately.

The unlimited has been fine for me, bandwidth and disk space.

I have to admit that over the 12 months my websites have slowed a little but still much faster than previous people I have hosted with.

Their website is nice as well, simple and straight forward which is always useful when you are managing your domains.

Would def recommend.

Are you just using it for yourself with multiple websites on your reseller account? Or do you actually resell the hosting to others through WHMCS?

I have the full package with the WHMCS license but at the moment I am just hosting family and friends. About 17 domains at present.

How did you know how to set it all up etc...? It proved to be a major minefield for me.

The websites were straight forward as they are using Cpanel which is what my previous host was using. So all I had to do was back up each site and Smart Hosting restored them into my account. The cpanel setup is fairly straight forward.

The WHMCS is a little more involved but there are loads of articles on the web. I believe mine is up and running now but It's yet to be fully tested as I'm not advertisting at present.

Smart Host technical support will help out with all the above though. I was previously with Eukhost for about 10 years and I didn't realise how bad they were until I moved to these guys.
Have just come to smart on VPS and the support was excellent, had unlimited hosting at godaddy (which is actually limited to 250,000 files) and took their VPS (as they advised) because needed some ports open. They wouldn't help at all and wanted £107 per month for supported VPS. I cancelled after a few days but lost the monthly payment. Had shared hosting and a reseller at godaddy with 82 domains + 35 domains. Using 29gb but was hitting the 250,000 file limit.

So have moved to smart with a VPS, own nameserver and DNS all domains, cancelled godaddy shared and reseller hosting and will not use them anymore.

Remember that any unlimited hosting will be limited by the number of files you can host, which includes websites, emails and anything else. It's not the space, it's the files, each file can be as large as it needs.

Smart say they have no file limit but in practise this is not possible on shared hosting as the server has a physical limit of millions. So a VPS will have a file limit of about 9 million and a dedicated server even more. Cloud hosting does not have a realistic limit because you can upscale anytime and it keeps adding servers.
