Unlock the Orange SanFransisco for FREE!
Just saw this on MoDaCo and I just succesfully unlocked my wife's phone with it using an o2 SIM.

---
Put your IMEI in, select ZTE, leave the default model as ZTE BLUEBELT, pop in the not-a-robot code. In the box above the IMEI you'll receive your code. Gave me the same code as Nckcodes sent me.

Use the dialler and enter this to see your IMEI: *#06# (don't press Call!).
Get your unlock code from the site above.
Double-check you used the correct IMEI number -- it's free to retry!
Turn off your phone.
Open the back.
Remove the battery.
Remove the (Orange?) SIM card.
Insert a SIM card from a different operator.
Replace battery.
Replace back.
Turn on phone.
(If prompted, enter any PIN number that you may have set on the new SIM.)
Now you should be prompted to enter the unlock code. Do it carefully!

HOT!

Paid someone on fleabay the other day for an unlock code.
£1.80 or so. Not too bad.

Quick question.

Have bought an SF direct from Orange. Do I need to put the Orange SIM in at all before I attempt to unlock with another networks SIM? Have no intentions of ever using the Orange SIM as this will be used with a 3 contract SIM - but not sure if I can jump straight to sticking in the 3 SIM and unlocking as above?

Heat added thanks

OK, assuming your '3' dongle is listed on this page (ie a Huawei') - mine is a Huawei E160G "3" branded dongle that was a preloaded dongle that has now expired.

Goto the unlock site nextgenserver.com/cal…or/
Enter your dongle's IMEI number (which is on the underside) into the window that says 'imei;
Select 'Huawei 3G datacard by code' in the drop down selector called 'service'
Now select ' E169G' (if an E160G or choose other if applicable) in the next drop down that appears once you've chosen the 'Huawei option above'
Enter the random text in the 'enter displayed text' and press 'order' and they give you the unlock code.

Now, you need the unlock tool to allow you enter the unlock code into your dongle....download here: nextgenserver.com/sup…=71

insert dongle, make sure it's detected on the PC, you may need to have installed the software if it wasn't already on that PC, run the unlock software, enter the code and it should unlock the dongle.

Now, you MUST use the non network dongle software and NOT the supplied software that comes from your network provider...(eg '3' or 'Vodafone' etc) Using their special branded software will not allow you to use other network sims. So you must use the non network specific software and you have to set it to connect to you network of choice.

Get the E160G dongle software here: nextgenserver.com/sup…=70

Once I did all the above and entered in my new network providers details into the new dongle software I could scan and see the various networks available and connect.

It's a faff but it does work!

why would you get Orange SF anyways, when you can get unlocked LG Optimus from carphone warehouse for simmilar price and it exceeded it in specs?

What makes the LG better?

LG -
600Mhz CPU
256MB RAM
3" 320 x 480 TFT resistive screen

Orange SF -
600MHz CPU
512MB RAM
3.5" 480 x 800 AMOLED capacitive screen

SF looks better in comparison to me..

Cheers, you have just reaffirmed my purchase of the SF, I'm going to buy the other half one now
(_;)

I have a few questions, forgive me for being a noob!

Can I Unlock this phone to a Tesco mobile sim only contract? - the one listed here on HUKD!

Will I be able to use data as well as calling and texting?

Are there any risks with giving your IMEI number away?

Will this invalidate the warranty?

Thanks in advance

Yes, yes, yes and yes

maybe a p.s. on the second yes - as I've no idea if you can get data on a tesco sim only deal, I think you can though.

Have a look at the posts around page 216 on the san fransisco thread.

hotukdeals.com/dea…216

I have a san fransisco but it's a christmas pressie, I'll be unlocking it using the NCK code website.

I've had the T Mobile pulse for a year now, unlocked and running custom software so can't wait to get my hands on the SF.

Unlocking will invalidate the warranty - depends how thorough the repair team are, they might not notice or bother.

Okay thanks again! I'm looking forwards to opening my San Fran too!

I will probably do the unlock then. Is there a reason why you have decided to use NCK codes rather than the free method up there? ^ Have you had past experience with them?

code worked thanks¬!

cool!

Is it international unlock? any SIM will work in the world?

Thanks worked a treat on my new White San Fran

Just unlocked mine, thanks!

Thanks

Shame debranding it isnt as easy as this.
