Another company trying to exploit goodwill for the NHS to get cheap …Another company trying to exploit goodwill for the NHS to get cheap publicity - btw I work for the NHS myself in an non frontline job

The same company that keeps the NHS connected including 999 call centres, while operating separately not forgetting Openreach with engineers who keep everyone on the network connected including NHS home workers connected. But yeh exploiting the NHS by giving the staff more data, yeh.... down with them

Why are NHS workers getting unlimited free data?

Yeh. Why don’t they give free data to people sitting at home in lockdown? These NHS people saving lives and being exposed to Covid-19. What’s so special about them?

Thanks for this @Username50. Thought it was only EE despite BT being parent company. Nice to be wrong

Also providing key connectivity to NHS workers. Some of whom are having to use personal devices to do work.
Have virgin done any thing helping toward a NHS?

This was in an article I found by accident. Show me a link where BT have actively promoted it please? I searched and searched and to confirm it couldn’t find one. I only knew it was genuine when I spoke to a member of staff.

Good luck in finding it. 🤫😏
Funny seeing this deal from caring BT. My partner works for the NHS and is working from home due to circumstances, our BT Internet went down (for a total of 10 days). Initially we were told that we could only get increased data if we paid for it despite being on bt Mobile. Eventually after a few more calls and repeated engineer visits we got given an extra 10gb of data. The engineer who eventually fixed it was great, but the call centre staff and customer service were awful...

That’s unusual. What did they say when you said she works for the nhs? I assume her phone is with BT too?

With most people staying at home they aren't using much data so all BT is doing is giving NHS workers the data that isn't being used. Pure marketing but at least the NHS employees benefit. It would be nice to see these offers include another key workers as well like care workers, delivery drivers, shop workers etc.

Virgin supply my NHS GP practice, they did supply the precursor to NHS-X (also a separate virgin business runs the urgent care centre really well) - Viginmedia supplying NHS premises is what really matters providing an internet service to keep the NHS running. They are actually doubling the bandwidth for the practice which will help with video consultations, so I am really grateful to Virgin media business despite not being impressed with their residential customer service.

I think they do nhs discounts for individuals via bluelight/hsd. It would be nice if virgin mobile did free data on an individual level but I do not really know any NHS worker on virgin mobile, there must be some. Actually just did a google search and found this virginmedia.com/vir…ted reads like #MeToo

Its great BT mobile are giving free data similar to EE. Hopefully plusnet if they still do mobile will also do the same. Thank you for posting

Judging by your remark You fall into the latter categories obviously. such jealousy.

She was the one speaking to them (both of us are on BT) as I'm still out working during the day. It was the broadband department and they didn't seem to care that she was actively working for the NHS from home. To be fair when we eventually got to speak to the mobile dept they were pretty helpful with sorting out extra data and generally apologetic for the situation. The extra data was done by paying for a top up and having this credited back. So the main gripe was with the broadband call centre staff who couldn't have been more unhelpful.

No I don't actually. I used to work for BT though, so judging by your remark you work for the NHS or are you just trolling?

So you think it is funny that other key workers don't deserve praise or benefits? Shame on you.

Companies not giving stuff for the NHS - shame on you. They’re risking their lives.

Companies that give stuff to the NHS - band wagon jumpers. Just want good publicity.

Is this all a joke to you? There are many sectors that are at risk, not just the NHS. Stop with your immature comments please.

I can't see a sector that is in more danger than the front line NHS they are dealing with confirmed cases everyday! Although I would not want to work in a care home right now, they nor anyone else can say the same..

I think they’re getting praise because the NHS has always saved lives and always will. I’m a key worker out working long hours amongst the public. I don’t think I deserve anything. My job is meaningless compared to doctors and nurses who save peoples lives. To think otherwise is just narcissistic.
Username5016/05/2020 21:43

In the canteen?

I’m a doctor in the NHS and I can assure you that the catering staff are putting their health on the line every single day to serve staff and patients meals. If patients don’t see a doctor they might die. If they don’t eat they will die.
I think you missed the point.
scallygally17/05/2020 11:13

Why are NHS workers getting unlimited free data?

Some frontline Doctors and Nurses etc may be living away from home in hotels and long hours at work etc, so the extra data may be beneficial if they normally do not use much data and on a lower package, e.g. making video calls etc.

Clearly the NHS are in more danger but they aren't the only ones and I think the other sectors need a little bit more recognition.

I think you need to speak to someone you clearly have a self-esteem issue. If you are a key worker then your job is certainly not meaningless.
