I go by weight per kilo. You can double up your slices & also saves throwing stuff in the bin after a couple of days.

I bought some "posh" maple syrup covered back bacon the other day. Made me sick & stunk out the house for 3 days even after being chucked in the bin.

Each to their own.

Should have gone to Lidl and bought their bacon. Good quality, lush on a roll and cheaper than your maple bacon.

Never going to buy Maple bacon again. I bought some Whisky Cured bacon too but that is in the freezer right now to stop the smell & even that is going in the bin when it needs emptying.

Hardly surprising it stunk if you left it in the bin for 3 days.

No. It went straight outside after I cooked 2 slices but the house stunk for 3 days.

I would send it but even Royal Mail would be claiming damages for the stink.
"J.James" is just a replacement for the sainsburys basic range btw.
"with added water"
At least they're honest but I really would avoid this rubbish. Ends up just being boiled in the pan in it's own brine!

Haven't found anything better than Aldi 'Specially Selected' Dry Cured back bacon.

That is double the price per kilo!

Maybe double the price but half the water.

But still cheap and it's delicious. Do you like paying through the nose for water then finding the product is almost inedible? I won't pay a penny more than something is worth but I'll buy that Aldi bacon and I won't buy this rubbish which is an insult to the poor pig which grew it!.

Yes. You are correct. Absolutely gross.

Sadly yes,had the oak smoked, whisky smoked, the maple and the normal.Only good thing was no water and little shrinking, the standard bacon was really good, like I remember most bacon used to be.All the rest we almost overpowering and very artificial tasting.

It was too much. You couldn't even taste the bacon. Was just like maple syrup but maple syrup distilled 5 times over. Totally overpowering as you say.
I remember years ago a company that supplied injecting machinery to butchers. Its advert stated why sell meat when you can sell water. Its not just bacon but also chicken and beef joints that are injected with water and phosphates. The practice should be banned.
If you buy food and it's poor - take it back. It's a minor nuisance to do but you'll get your money back AND send a message to the retailer. How else do they know it's rubbish they're selling?
