Yes i feel sorry for countries like this all those people who are suffering BUT charity begins at home why cant we as a country sort our own problems out first ????? one example homeless and yes before you shout and scream its not the same and some people choose to be homeless. well some dont choose to be homeless and there is so little help out there (eg shelters). Yes i know this isnt the same as what they are going through but the goverment should be looking closer to home rather than trying to look good and throwing money at other countries when our country could be better. IMO

Ouch, prices are 2/3 times more than on Steam. I think their cause is honourable but I'm not prepared to pay £15 for Bejeweled 2!

This is all bull crap.......donate the difference straight to the appeal as their prices are way over other sites

Voting cold

So buy a game for £5 and give £10 to charity or buy a game for £15 which all goes to charity? It's a good idea.

However, to make a donation go to donate.bt.com/dec…tml and remember to tick the box for giftaid so the UK government gives the income tax you paid too (that might not help our national debt but we're still better off than Haiti)

i kind of agree, but £1 sent to haiti will almost gaurantee saving a life of an innocent;
whereas £1 given to a shelter here will only helps a person, not with certainty saves a life..

Awesome, hot!

not to be cheap but you can use the coupon save10percent to get 10% off but in this instance i think its worth paying the full price

I think we should wait till the dust settles before we start discussing Haiti

As the website states "we'll send the proceeds" you could be right. I have no idea what the legal definition of "proceeds" is in the US. It may allow them to take out their costs as well as tax. So I guess you may be right. Instead of downloading a $20 game I've just followed my own link and donated £20 - doesn't seem much (a fiver for each member of my family) but it's better than nothing.

Don't be so ridiculous. Your post is incredibly insensitive at best and downright offensive at worst.

it seems as though they are trying to do the right thing....but to many unknowns. eg phrase as proceeds. And what time frame is the donation.

GIve direct to the DEC and that way you ensure that all the money goes to those that need it. NOW

IMHO

voted cold due to the unknowns

Was that meant to be a joke or are you just inadvertently funny!?

Yes these people need help and will get it..

Yes nobody forced the game company to do this

Yes lots of contractors will make millions out of this.

Yes I can't wait for all the washed up pop stars to release a naff song.

If you give a pound and 10p gets to the actual people then thats better than nothing.

It's the way of the corrupt world we live in

How much money did Haiti give us during our snowed in period? Or our flooding last year?

great post-heave some heat !

Shut it mate and get in the real world - it's awful whats happened and can not be compared to our own countries problems!!

All of the money will be given to Haiti. Because popcap usually put 400% mark up on things normally, they can afford to have one day where they take no money themselves. After all they would have broke even on way back in the financial year, one day will not affect them as a company at all. Even if 100000 people bought products. I just hope all of you Haiti haters out there take a look at your sad little lives and realise that just £1 can save a kids life. In this country £1 wouldn't buy a kid a tshirt!

Well said mate have some Rep!!

All the people who thing charity starts at home...how much do you give? After all, to rid the streets of homeless people in this country, it would cost millions. The people of Haiti don't have clean water for gods sake.

I have to say these Haiti threads are beginning to sicken me. If you truly want to donate then go through DEC and not any other site offering incentives, freebies etc

If I could spam I would

and yes, I do believe charity begins at home but that doesn't mean it ends there :?

Would probably cost a WHOLE lot less than charities make it out to be. In Notts near victoria center there is CONSTANTLY people from 'shelter' working there. Trying to get money, trying to make me feel bad and give them money to put roofs over peoples heads. However, that's as far as they go, they ask people to keep pumping money in just for that. They don't even bother helping them to get jobs so these people can make themselves self-sufficient.

Anyway, with my little rant over. I give 4£ from my wages to the red cross, which may not seem a lot, but over the year it's something like £200 (probably costs me about 150£ after tax breaks). As everyone says, £1 to us isn't much, to them it could save a life.

Agreed.

And. I do wonder what these sanctimonious halfwits actually do for charity inbetween each disaster. Funny how they all crawl out from under their rocks to bang their drum ... when in reality there are those of us who do charity work on a day to day basis.
Maybe some of these halfwits need to take close look at themselves, and quit blowing smoke up their own ar5es

Theres more than enough help for the homeless/poor/jobless. It takes some doing to be homeless in the UK these days. Watched a program on it recently where most of them actually chose to be homeless. Some have been homeless for 35 years... Why does one person always have to start saying charity starts at home. Id rather give it to the people that need it the most not to OUR nation jsut cause they are brits. Racist in a way tbh.

I would rather our country offered us the chance to go directly to the affected areas and provide search & rescue services and the option to work in the temporary shelters giving out supplies to the victims.

This way I can be sure that my efforts aren't in vain as what guarantees do I have that my donations will make it to the people who need it.

personally, i think the best deal would be donate £15 using a uk registered charity, you can them claim it back from tax (thus costing you nothing)

now, if you are still wanting a game from your generous giving, go buy it from steam (as someone earlier pointed out) for around £5.

that way, £15 goes straight to charity and costs you nothing, then the £5 paid via steam gets you a game and if popcap give that £5 to charity - even better! can anyone comment on whether this will work or not?

personally i am against companies doing this because they come out looking good and getting tax benefits, free advertising - all on the back of a customers good will. all a bit morally wrong given that it is playing on a tragedy.

my point is, give to charity a better way, rather than though a scheme like this

In my opinion you are incredibly ignorant. IMO.

Any place that pronounces itself 'Hate-eee' has got it coming!

I higly reccomend Peggle or Plants vs Zombies

Hot deal Was going to donate anyway, so this is basically like getting Plants vs Zombies for free for me.
It was entertaining reading some of the moronic posts on here too.

So if you want to donate 20 dollars, here is an easy way, and you get a good game out of it as well.If you want to talk theoretical crap about donating some other way and claiming tax back, then do it or shut up.Voted hot as it is Jai dee

oi, chill, i wasn't saying not to donate!

and maybe i have done the tax thing, because it means for £5, I got a game and £20 goes to charity....

if you don't understand basic tax issues i could have explained it man, heres a link: hmrc.gov.uk/ind…htm

unfortunately this American glory hunting retailer has blinded people by implication........they will not be donating the full price paid for the game, they will get tax relief due to the minimal charitable donation and they will gain financial details of prospective customers who will remain loyal......

either way they gain......the charity misses out :-(
