Seems very good to me considering this beats RM prices too. Booking must be done for myherms and for 13p you can now add protection for up to £20 worth to your parcels which weight up to 1kg.

Original description:
Many customers asked us to reintroduce a low-priced 1 kg service that includes protection. So we’re delighted to announce the launch of a 1 kg myHermes service with inclusive £20 protection for only £2.29 plus VAT.

Parcel protection for 13p

Our new myHermes pricing means that by booking through Parcel2Go, you can now get parcel protection up to the value of £20 for only 13p. It doesn’t get much better than that!

It seems to be the standard price, if you go to the MyHermes direct it may even be cheaper if you drop the parcel to local shop and £25 insurance is included as standard.

I got this email earlier and it confused me somewhat, is a Royal Mail 2nd class parcel not £2.80 with £20 compensation? (let's be honest, their 2nd class will be faster than the MyHermes route). What were/are they referring to with the 18% cheaper statement, Royal Mail 1st class?

Hmmm go with myhermes directly and it's £2.60 for 1kg with £25 protection. With better tracking and customer service help than going with P2G who will make you wait 2 days for a reply if anything goes wrong and with no guarantee they will reply. Oh and parcel2go make claiming as hard as the Royal Mail do if you have ever had to claim with them and once you've sent the documents off to claim parcel2go reject your claim and pocket the protection money themselves from the courier company.

Royal mail 2nd class = £2.80
Hermes (new insured service) = £2.29

Difference = 18% less

However, they are idiot enough to compare the VAT included price to their VAT excluded price. In fact their final price is £2.75 which is 5p less than RM. HOWEVER, many people are still able to use the code they offer for free postage which is an advantage over RM. Not to mention many including myself have a parcel shop nearer than a RM office.

so you can opt in for compensation cover now. was standard up to £20 valuation.

Yeah, but it's £2.75 with VAT. To the average Joe, that's just 5p, which isn't 18%.

Edit: Obviously I'm agreeing with what you just said above, just found their comparison weird

You just quoted two sentences of my full reply to you, right? Did you read the rest? I said the same thing!

Edit: thanks for your edit. I am sure you read the rest too now, lol.

No point adding protection with Hermes because they don't compensate for certain items you send. When I checked which items seems to be almost everything and you won't get a penny from them have had the experience

You'll be compensated by p2g not Hermes.

Ive claimed long time ago before they remove the instance and it was very straight forward. Not sure how bad they're now.

Cold - What a con! How can they claim an 18% discount when they are comparing their ex vat price
Very bad if not downright false advertising

When I sell stuffs on eBay and send via Hermes, the item always gets there within 2 days, as long as I drop off at the parcel shop before 5pm.

Oh and who actually pays for sending a parcel through p2g? There are always codes floating around - LOL.

Freezing. You are not covered for a multitude of items - check the my Hermes T&C's you won't get anything for electronics, computers, resin, glass, etc etc. RM every time for me I've made plenty of claims and always got a refund whereas Hermes went through my listing with a fine tooth comb until they found a reason not to pay.
