The GEL-SONOMA™ 5 shoe helps you explore the trails with stability, while delivering advanced comfort on your next adventure.

GEL-SONOMA™ 6 - £56 (down from £80)

You can find it HERE on the asics' website

The GEL-SONOMA™ 6 running shoe is designed for the great outdoors. Taking inspiration from the ASICS trail running family, this shoe is a versatile offering that's functional for trail runs, light hiking, and other outdoor adventures. We also used fewer resources to colour the sockliner for a more sustainable design approach.

The focus this season was to improve the fit of the upper, so we implemented a new last design that provides a more secure midfoot and heel fit, while the wider toe box allows the toes to spread out. The synthetic stitching on the overlays is designed to improve durability while also helping feet stay secure and reduce slipping.

Underfoot comfort stems from a full-length AMPLIFOAM™ midsole and GEL™ technology cushioning unit that's placed where runners need the most impact absorption. To increase the softness with every step, we've included an ORTHOLITE™ sockliner for excellent comfort. Additionally, the multi-directional grip outsole improves traction on a variety of surfaces.

All of these comfort components are complemented by durable properties, such as the solid rubber outsole—making this shoe a versatile choice for the trails.

Thanks OP. Does anyone know what the fit is like in ASICS these days? Not had any for a few years. Thanks.

I've always found them to be true to size. I've bought a pair of gt2000's almost every year for about 10 years and never had an issue. Only ones I've heard where you may have to buy a size or half a size bigger is the GTX ones because of the waterproof membrane.

Not sure these are any further reduced than they have been for months as I’ve been checking weekly as need to replace my Fujitrabuco 7s. The Trabuco Terra have definitely been £70 for some time. I’m waiting for their Black Friday sake again now I think!

Have Asics trainers gotten smaller these past 7 years? The last pair I tried were a good half a size at least, too small, even though same size as all my previous Asics

For me I had to for for 91/2 from 81/2

I had a pair of asics that did 800km of running, 2x half marathons and 4x tough mudders before they fell apart. They are superb shoes! Highly recommend the custom moulded insoles also.

Any recommended styles for flat feet and support heel pronation?
    Avatar
You may need to check what kind of pronation you are, I originally had the gt2000 but they gave me bad ankles, now cured by swapping to a neutral shoe. Quick way is to look at your current soles and see how they are worn.
I wear nothing but asics (except for football) as really support my ankles.

Discussions on it sounds more like on a car engine performance.

I can thoroughly recommend the Sonoma GTX shoes, I’ve had 4/5 pairs of them now. I supinate ( wear the outside) and so they are a lovely neutral shoe (edited)

I loved mine but made the mistake of running on a treadmill on em, the tread went flat within a week or so! But outdoors, great. (edited)

I bought the gel sonoma 5s back in June from Asics for £18. Unidays discount also works on outlet. I think they’re really comfortable, although as I’m currently preggers I’ve only worn them dog walking, not running. Sizewise they are similar to my Adidas and Brooks running shoes, and smaller than Nike.

I think they have further reduced prices. Just bought the Sonoma 5 GTX that OP has a screenshot of in the description, but coming up as £44 for the same size, not £55. Although decided on 9.5 instead after someone said they can be a bit tight - thanks and heat! I also have £1.10 from Topcashback tracked. (edited)

Thanks OP. Bought a pair of Gel Excite 9 for my good lady. We’re £70 reduced to £49 but by signing up to Asics extra 10 % off and free postage 😃
