First of all... just a reminder that referral comments aren't allowed, please don't drop those comments in here they'll only get removed

This isn't a new deal but I think it gets overlooked, even on money-saving expert... when overall I think it's currently the best switching bonus deal.

If you are with Nationwide and you refer a friend, you both get £100 (just 2 weeks after the switch completed for me & my gf). Obviously it doesn't have to be a "friend", it's not hard to find somebody that banks with them to get the bonus for yourself. The basic current account also offers 5% interest on balances up to £2,500 for a year, which could earn you £125. So total possible if you can keep 2.5k in there, is £225 each over a year.

Again sorry if you feel this isn't a deal or isn't new... but it is literally the easiest money we've ever made... 2 easy online forms, and they sort out changing over all the payments etc. Plus once you have the account you can recommend others to try and earn more £100 bonuses, I've done 2 so far.

I've got the flex direct which is free, but the Mrs got the flex plus which has extra benefits below, but only pays 3% interest, and is £13 a month.

  • Worldwide Family Travel Insurance
  • UK & European Breakdown and Recovery Assistance
  • Worldwide Family Mobile Phone Insurance
  • Commission-free cash withdrawals abroad

I've done this before and it's dead easy free money. I was recommend by a friend so we each got the £100, then I recommended my wife so another £100 each, plus the £125 each in interest so earned us £550 over the year!

Need to find some more friends to recommend it to now!

Great bank, I've been with them for five years and they certainly look after you, I've also referred a few acquaintances for some extra cash.

I also recommend, good way to get a bit more free money too, get all your friends and family referred and both get £100 free
Can you have both a free flex account with £2500 in it, and then a paid flex plus to earn extra interest?

How often is the interest paid on these?

Not sure on that, but the interest is monthly. I doubt you'd get interest on both, but it does allow you to open a savings account with 5%, which you can deposit £250 a month in to I think
Have done this too, switched my wife's account too and got another £100. Was really easy and paid out quick.
I even helped a fellow Hukd member too
Seems I'm unlucky switched and referred 2x friends no cashback and terrible customer service
Get ready for the influx of I’m with Nationwide and can recommend you posts
Does it have to be a switch or can it be a new account

Has to be a switch
can't remember which one i have but for a monthly fee you also get home recovery, mobile phone insurance and euro tavel insurance for you and your family... yes, you're paying £120 a year but, what with the regulars savings, and all the other dtceteras, seemed to be worthwhile, if only for the security.

of course, may have changed since i joined couple of years back (who has time to constantly recheck the conditions and offers!) but sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong.
My only hesitation from switching from Barclays is their incredible phone app. It takes care of 99% of my banking needs. Can anyone recommend Nationwide's banking app? Regardless of money saved for me the quality of the banking app is a deal maker or breaker.

I was eyeing this up the other day on moneysavingexpert, pretty certain the flex free account can be an additional account and you'll earn interest on both. Might open two for me and the wife.
The deal is great and heat given. Sadly most people who vote on this will be too lazy to bother. Shame on them.
This will most likely be a contender for my next switch but I've recently moved from first tsb to first direct. If only first direct give you money to refer lol

I find the app very good
Have banked with them for over 20 years by far the easiest online/app banking and always provided good advice and support - I have zero referrals this year yet

That’s why you set up DDs
Anyone know if switching from a monzo account works?
Can highly recommend the Nationwide. Excellent service and plenty of High Street branches. And if you get their credit card you don't get charged using it abroad unlike most other ones.
We have a joint flex plus account as the benefits apply to both of us and are therefore well worth the fee.
i find the app to be very good, i also have the Halifax and Santander apps to compare, and have also been paid for referrals without any problems so overall i would recommend
I assume the reference has to be someone that doesn't already bank with them?

You get referred by someone that does currently bank with them, as an existing customer they will get £100 and you as new customer will also get £100, i believe thats how it works.

The other way, It has to be someone who already has a Nationwude account and then you both get £100 if you switch a current account from another bank. You must have 2 direct debits paid out of that account when switching.
Like I say a friend referred me , both got £100 then I referred my wife, both got £100. Win, win.

You can switch a joint account, but the Nationwide account you're switching to needs to be joint too.

You can get paid for 5 referrals each tax year, but I've never managed to hit the 5 maximum.
im with first direct and have a joint account with nationwide. can i refer myself to nationwide then transfer my joint account to HSBC offering £150thus getting £350 total? if so how long between account activation till new switch
