Up to £450 (switch bonuses & interest) for you & a "friend" for switching to Nationwide

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Well I posted this same deal over a year ago but it's still the same so thought I'd re-share. No brainer free money in my view...

First of all... just a reminder that referral comments aren't allowed, please don't drop those comments in here they'll only get removed

This isn't a new deal but I think it gets overlooked, even on money-saving expert... when overall I think it's currently the best switching bonus deal.

If you are referred to nationwide by somebody that is already with them (a "friend") then you each get £100 when your account is opened (just 2 weeks after the switch completed for me & my gf). Obviously it doesn't have to be a "friend", it's not hard to find somebody that banks with them to get the bonus for yourself. The flexdirect current account also offers 5% interest on balances up to £2,500 for a year, which could earn you £125. So total possible if you can keep 2.5k in there, is £225 each over a year.

Again sorry if you feel this isn't a deal or isn't new... but it is literally the easiest money we've ever made... 2 easy online forms, and they sort out changing over all the payments etc. Plus once you have the account you can recommend others to try and earn more £100 bonuses, I've done 2 so far.

I've got the flex direct which is free, but the Mrs got the flex plus which has extra benefits below, but only pays 3% interest, and is £13 a month.

  • Worldwide Family Travel Insurance
  • UK & European Breakdown and Recovery Assistance
  • Worldwide Family Mobile Phone Insurance
  • Commission-free cash withdrawals abroad

Agreed. its not the basic account

FlexDirect could suit you if:

  • Your balance is often in credit – If you pay in at least £1,000 each month you’ll get 5% AER (4.89% gross p.a. fixed) interest on balances up to £2,500 for the first 12 months, and 1 % gross p.a./AER variable after that.1

5% only for new customers. not existing customers.

Agree, been with them for a while, no problems at all

Yep sadly same here. I only got £75 and another £200 for 2 friends following the invites. I think that excludes you for quite a while.

Hmm there was a time when we got 5% interest every year. Then Nationwide stopped it for existing customers. :/

It's not overlooked on moneysavingexpert but just about everyone on there would have done this already and you cannot do it again.

You can refer 5 people a year and you get £100 for each that moves their banking with a full switch. I work for them

I didn't realise, thanks. Unfortunately i switched my nationwide to m&s for their Gift Card offer... Then switched the m&s to TSB for another 150
Me and my partner did this. The easiest £400 we ever made!
Just checked mine, I have the saver but have the FlexAccount , can I switch to the FlexDirect ?
Edited by: "shug119" 26th Jun
Got the FlexPlus account - brilliant 'perks' and definitely worth it if you need the products individually... as always make sure it pays to have it or go for the fee free little brother the FlexDirect

My partner and I both have the accounts and no issues at all

I'm sure you could switch but wouldn't get the switching incentive. Best check with them
My tips:

After you've done your switch to get the £100, refer your partner for a switch to get another £100 for you and £100 for them. That's what I did making £300 in total!

Also if you're then going to be referring to friends and family, in my experience it can take a few days for the referral link to come through from Nationwide once you request it. However they last 90 days so if you request a few in advance then you'll have them ready to give out when people ask.

As a couple you could get referred by a friend and get £100 then refer your partner and both get £100 and if you both have a balance of over £2500 for the year you both earn £125 and pass on the deal to another friends for another £100 each.

So 100+(100x2)+(125×2)=550

Good switch incentive if you have savings of £5000 and haven't already done this

Got the flex plus and I love it. Its cheaper to get travel and breakdown cover through this, And maximum interest covers half the fee.
Uk interest rates are .teb bank in turkey pay 23% on a 32 day time account.

Any recommendations for a simple to open account that can then be used to switch to Nationwide ? would the switch account have to be a current account ?

Depending on who your existing bank account is with, you can often open extra no-frills accounts with them instantly online. It then usually takes a few days for direct debits to appear on it after you set them up or move them, before you can use it to switch.
Hi guys,
Do I still get the £100 for switching my account or do I have to be referred by a friend/family? Thanks

You will have to be referred. When I've referred people before, I've had to do a quick form on nationwide, I then get an email which I forward on to the person switching. Very easy

I've found Tesco to be the quickest and easiest
Did this off my own bat last year and I recommended my wife.

Don't forget, you can also have a joint account that also earns 2.5% interest in addition to your own

We had three accounts filled with 2.5k earning 5% interest with money stoozed from 0% credit cards. An easy £375.
How long does it take to get the email from Nationwide ? I filled the details in last night and nothing yet? Am i just being impatient

To refer people? Usually 2/3 days in my experience...
To receive the money once the switch is done? Anything between a week and 30 days...

To get the incentive you need to complete a full switch with at least 2 direct debits
Existing account holders who currently do not have A FlexDirect is eligible. For example if you have the FlexPlus you can open an additional account or upgrade your existing one to the FlexDirect. You’ll receive 5% on balances of up to £2.500 for the FIRST YEAR only, thereafter it’ll drop to 1%. You’ll only earn interest in a FlexDirect account as long as you pay in £1,000 minimum from a non-Nationwide account. I.e your salary being paid in monthly.

And no, you can not close a FlexDirect and open another to be gain the 5% anymore so good luck on who tries .

Refer a friend

To be eligible for the referral incentive, you’ll need to be or to refer someone who’s willing to do a full account switch and that, they have at least 2 direct debts, nationwide do not accept regular transfer or standing orders as they do not classify as direct debt, therefore does not meet the requirement for RAF.
