Yukky bikes... don't bother spending less than £200 (that's my rule)

It's easy for anyone to afford with the cycle2work (well, if you're EMPLOYED!)

I would have voted cold for the 50% off Apollo but will vote warm for the 20% off Carerra.

I like the Carrera Subways but Halfords has put the price up on this from £200 that it was earlier this year so now even at 20% off, its still more expensive than it was but it is the cheapest place (The only place) to buy a Carerra so I'll vote it warm.

Wouldn't bother with the Apollos at that price to be honest.

Subways are great wee bikes.

The Subway 1 is alittle overpriced bow though because a few months ago, it was £200.

Thought that was standard anyway, it has been when I've bought bikes from Halfords in the past.

Even Halfords staff would tell you not to buy an Apollo. They are junk!

Anyone that gets a bike form Halfords though....be careful, and pay particular attention to the pedals!.I got a Carrera Kraken recently, and the entire pedal fell off after just 4 miles of pretty sedate cycling. A mate had his pedal fall off after just one corner!!!! Apparently it was my fault, as I was supposed to have checked the "user manual"...funny that, as I doubt that anywhere in this mystical user manual does it mention anything about "failure to build a bike correctly", or "staff incompetence"

I'm on a budget, and will be going for the white apollo with front suspension and disc brakes. I'll let you know at a later date if it was worth it or not. For £140 I'm not expecting a superb bike. But i'm not a serious bike person anyway.

I have'nt seen a bike with these types of thigs in that price range. Whether there is a reason for that I'll find out.

The bloke in halfords did steer me away from the Raliegh Glide that was on offer at the moment, and told me to wait for the white apollo model when it comes down in price. So i have done.

Prices have dropped today on most models.

halfords staff are pushing us towards the apollo cr4p as they get a bonus the more they sell.
you could ask for a bigger discount for cash,as the new models are ready for despatch to the stores in next few weeks.
as for carrera, google "bikes bolton" (not giving name of store).huge range and much cheaper allround.with better build quality than apollo.:whistling:

In fairness...the Halfords I went to told me not to buy an Apollo as they were crap, but instead to spend the extra if I was able to on a Carrera.

Of course this is the same Halfords store, that couldn't fit the gears properly (resulting in the chain coming off all the time), managed to but the bell on upside down (how did they not notice that?), and didn't fit the pedal properly either (resulting in the entire pedal arm falling off after a few miles of use)
