Aren't these the same ones that used to be sold by Price Drop TV and marketed as though they are something special?

They could be, I'm not too sure, I've only noticed them through amazon in my own personal experience

Silly RRP for a chinese watch. not swiss made. At around £50 might be OK but you can get much better such as any Seiko.

For what it's worth, the Thomas Earnshaw (think the Longitude achievement) brand is owned by Solar Time Ltd, a Chinese manufacturer of reasonable repute (it's also worth remembering that in the luxury range, some Chinese watch manufactures are on par with other Swiss luxury ranges, so don't automatically be put off by the word "Chinese").

There is no reason to doubt that the movement is Swiss, although the buyer should be aware that whilst it's obvious that not all swiss movements are equal, some are very very not equal in terms of quality of manufacture and materials used. Saying that, once again, this is one of the more reputable manufacturers, although the scant reviews appear to question this even once you discount the derision expressed at the original pricing.

The original pricing is ludicrous and appears to have been cynically set with a view of demonstrating deep discounts to make the products stand out to consumers and, although the current £80 > £150 pricing is closer a reasonable suggested retail price, the sale strategy reeks of ethical effluent, so I'm going cold on this.
