Huh? It's *ALWAYS* £125 - try Google. Who sets the high RRP? Oh, Viners themselves!

Voted cold, sorry.

The 58-piece sets are very reasonable - have added heat!

Needed some quality knives!

Hopefully these are! have heat!

Be Aware that all Viners cutlery is now made in China, not Sheffield.

Correct, there seems to be very little left of Viners now, they are a brand name for the UK and all owned by American corporate Oneida.

Is the cutlery any good though?

Not wishing to be down on Britain, but last time I looked quality control wasn't exactly our strong point.

You ARE being (unfairly) down on Britain!

Quality control on what product? In general, the quality of products is equal to most other countries and superior to many.
Cutlery manufacture was not discontinued due to poor quality, it is all due to low labour cost countries undercutting our prices for manufacture.

It is unjustified, genaralised comments such as these that have helped to cost Britain her manufacturing industry.

In the 1970s the comment may have been true, but in the past 2 decades good quality has been how we have been able to reatin the last few remaining manufacturing jobs in this country.

Honda, Nissan and Toyota have some of their most productive and high quality factories based in the UK. this would not be the case if quality was poor.

Be proud of this country and the skilled workers that we have in our manufacturing industries and don't kick them in the teeth. The government are quite capable of doing this without anyone elses help.

Is that because you don't use them? Most knives, no matter how good quality they are, need sharpening from time to time if they are used.

Just bought some placemats and coasters I have been after and also bought a knife block set and the knife set in the case using the £5 voucher and including delivery for £45.00....thanks OP.

Thats another 2 gifts off my list costing a few quid....happy bunny!

I remember having bought one Viners set from Argos, only to bring it back again after having a look at the inside. Not only are they poorly made, I doubt they've passed any quality control at all as some items even had rough edges. So sorry but COLD for me.

A point to notice as some poster has already said, these are CHINESE made, of course many things are being made there now, but obviously this could possibly associated with the quality control.

I've not voted either way as there may well be good buys here but I agree with the preivous post on the quality. I too bought a vinars block, didn't return it but it wasn't very good. Knife edges were too rugged (even before use) and blade was quite flimsy. I'm tempted to buy the set in the case as it looks good from pic but previous experience has put me off.

Nice find edi, voted hot Never had any problems with anything I've bought from Viners

But quality control in Britain is rubbish though

Does anybody have a phone number for viners because i bought something of them two weeks ago and they sent me the wrong stuff. I tried 0871 911 1719 and they said i had to email them at [email protected], I tried this but there was no reply.
Thanks!

Are you speaking from experience, or just prejudice? Please back-up your statement.

I purchased a chopping set which was a grater, chopper and a dicer following the previous post when viners were 'only' offering 75% off! The quality was fantastic, however at the same time I also had 2 'coffee been' dinner services which were of very cheap quality.Too much hassle to send them back but then they didn't cost very much. I think it's like a lot of things they don't make 'em like they used to,we just associate viners with quality but I think you probably get what you pay for.

Great find - ordered.

Mine have arrived now and they seem fine. They are virtually the same as my previous set (both are Viners rattail) though not absolutely identical e.g. these teaspoons are slightly shorter, the 'bowl' of dessert spoons slightly less rounded. They don't have 18/0 etched in like my old ones so maybe the metal is cheaper, but they feel a good weight. I suppose only time will tell...
