More expensive than the iPad mini (same class).

Rich man's iPad

ipad mini is £30 less than this, no brainer between the two for me, quality over plastic thanks :), however if you are an android fan this is good voted hot

This thing blows the iPad mini out of the water and it should do given the price premium, this is undoubtedly the best 8 inch tablet on the market. I would definitely take this over a more expensive full size iPad, that is coming from a iPad owner.

why do so many ppl postcomments like this? is it suppose to be reverse pychology to enourage heat to be added?

Cold. For thé price or would be hard not to encourage you to get a nexus 10. Yes, size and lack of stylus maybe an issue to some, but it is by far the superior device.

Good for the price, but I would definitely pay the extra and get the 3G one. But thats me and my personal requirements.

Its the same spec as the Galaxy Note so I doubt that its that laggy, personally I think Samsung missed a trick here as it has such a potential against the iPad mini (comes with a stylus, true multitasking) but they borked it with a price that was too high compared to the iPad which is much better from a software support point of view (Android still doesnt have many tablet specific apps whih tarnishes the experience somewhat)

The iPad Mini has nice build quality, won't argue against that, but a worse screen, worse spec, and frankly worse software.

If you had asked me 2~3 years ago if I wanted an iOS device OR Android device both costing the same I likely would have told you an iOS device as the iOS software was just superior. But since then Android has gotten better version upon version, and iOS has basically become static and or gotten worse.

In the 4.1+ world I'll pick Android every time. The software just wins the race. Plus you also get that all important "freedom." You can "do whatever you want" on Android. I mean iOS doesn't even have custom keyboards yet, no Swype, and lacks things like Tasker which makes my life easier in real terms (e.g. I automate daily tasks, like when I arrive in work my phone configuration changes, and I switch on machines at my desk before even setting foot on the elevator).

I think the pens are a gimmick unless you're an artist, but the pen is a choice. They don't shove it down your throat.

Would be cheapest at just about £400 from Amazon Germany. Not sure that's worth the difference.

I've only read one review report of lag and that, I believe, was a review of a production model.

Have a feeling this might be cheaper when Apple comes out with the iPad Mini Retina or Google comes with a new Nexus 7

Maybe, but it always should have been a sub £300 product and now it's nearly there.

Expensive needs to come down to the £200 mark at least!

Killer feature on this of course is the s-pen, which is brilliant on the Note 10.1. If the pen is what you want - then this tablet (or the cheaper Note 10.1) is the one you want. Otherwise there are better products out there than this.

If you are a dailymail/sun 'reader' then buy an iPad instead the games will keep your brains occupied.

This is great for notetaking for which lecturenotes is an excellent product on Android.

Far too expensive, it should be around £200 to compete with other brands like Asus,Google.....not just Apple.
Also the WXGA screen, seriously, my HTC one has higher resolution than that, definitely not worth this price tag.

I'm not clever enough for forward pie-cology, nevermind reverse.

I do take your point though now reading it back. At the time of posting I'd had no subjective comments on a previous £320 odd post and was posting with a wee phone/media player. My eyes aren't great and was getting a bit peeved. Just put it down to crankiness!

On a lighter note, it's nice to see it get some more positive feedback this time. Any feedback is good - even negative if it holds any water.

And that the reverse psychology worked... Heheh.

Writing this from my galaxy note 8, Well worth the price, By the way my £2000 TV is also plastic as is my games consoles and laptop. Phone, windows and front door of my home. When did plastic become the bad guy? Unlike aluminium that you make drink cans out of and they are so sturdy,, not!!

You are talking a load of bull. I bet you have never even used one.

Might want to check your sources pal....

Engadget says:
"which means we have no complaints where its real-world performance is concerned. The UI is responsive, navigation is brisk, animations are fluid and apps launch nearly instantly. In fact, all hums along so smoothly that it's easy to take the Note 8.0's ace performance for granted."

Try using it before you Judge. That's like saying a porche is to expensive to compete with a Ford Escort. This is a top rate piece of kit, The specs alone rate it higher than any other pad available, The addition of the S pen is the large cherry on top. It runs fast and smooth with NO LAG as previously suggested. As a proud owner I would recommend highly.

Got one

While your all debating wheat her it is any good or not they are flying of the shelves lol

Still waiting for the new Nexus tab announcement from Google before deciding to get one of these or not.

Had a go on it and it's not laggy at as all as previously commented. It's a beautiful bit of kit as well to look at.

Not voting ... I would wait until the 3g version is this price.

I've played with my friends Note 8.0 and it's brilliant, best 7/8 inch tablet in the market imo. I'm waiting for it to come down to about £250-270, then I will get one. Nothing comes close to it for its note taking and multi tasking capabilities. It probably is worth the extra premium over other tablets, if you're after a note taking device, I'm just being cheap.

samsung are like apple....overcharging!
It annoys me the way Samsung assume they are running the market and now seem to have big heads like Apple and not making any real major changes to their products.
I like the way Asus are innovating new products at the moment.
p.s didnt vote.

IMO it's only worth the money if you intend to use the stylus.

While I agree in principle - Samsung and plastics to not mix. If my Note 10 is anything to go by, this will be cheap plastic! Nokia make plastic cool, my N9 was plastic but rock solid.

Even so - this is definitely overpriced, I'm not sure why people think this commands £150 more than a Nexus 7 (32GB) or £50 more than the Note 10.

If you want the S-Pen get the Note 10 (bigger screen is much better for note taking), and if you want it for speed best to get the Nexus 7. (Also used Nexus 10 are a few quid more on ebay - full 1080p res vs this 1280x800)

All in all there is no killer feature that this offers that can't be had elsewhere for less. Hence overpriced.

Nexus 7 is smaller and does not have a pen so it can not be compared.
I don't believe you can get a new Note 10 for less than this, let alone a whole £50 cheaper.
