With the expert program Already started, I'm just going to post as I normally do, but I'll be doing more of the things you appreciate, like this post for example..

I've done a few of these in the past, that have went down well...

So..

Today I'm bringing you a short list with cheapest prices available from China and the UK, so you can make your mind up, if it is worth buying from the UK or not.

This list is a list of the best (I think) xiaomi phones currently available, people will disagree, and I'd love to hear your comments, and alternatives.

In the buying sense the advantages from the UK are you get a warranty, and next day delivery in most cases.

But if you're anything like me, I like to save a pretty penny, and have never had a phone break on me ever, and so will carry on buying my xiaomi from China for the foreseeable.

I don't begrudge anyone who needs that comfort of a warranty, I completely understand, so this is why I've included the UK prices for these phones.

3101776.jpg
Flagship:
Thought I'd start off with my favourite xiaomi, and the true flagship, the Xiaomi mi mix 2s, I know it has been Superceded by the mix 3, but as that hasn't had a full release yet, and the only ones I can find are Chinese versions, and none available in the UK, then it is what it is.

5.99" tri bezel less screen
3400mah battery
Dual cameras
Dual sim
Wireless charging

UK price:
Xiaomi UK £399 (reduced) (official UK launch price)
mobile.mi.com/uk/…2s/

China price:
At its lowest China price £277 (fee free) @ Gearbest
Currently £300 @ Gearbest
m.gearbest.com/cel…tml

3101776.jpg
Flagship killer:
I had to include the Pocophone, as there are currently no other phones that can compete with this, for bang to buck, specs for specs, get this phone if you can't quite afford the 2s, but want the power of a flagship.

4000mah battery
Liquid cooling tech
6.15" notched screen
Plastic rear
Sd845

UK cheapest price £279 @ Appliances Direct (64gb) +Amazon
appliancesdirect.co.uk/sea…one

UK Price Mi Store 64gb £329 128gb £349
mobile.mi.com/uk/…f1/

Appliances direct £299 128gb

China price:
Lowest has been £212 for the 64gb
(we all know prices fluctuate, and there is a constant sale, so this will be £230 or under most of the time)
Current cheapest:
£228 aliexpress mi global (may incur customs)
m.es.aliexpress.com/ite…tml

3101776.jpg
Upper mid range:
I've included the mi A2 for the upper mid range processor sd660, and the fact it is stock android, and nothing from the UK can come close to it for upper mid range currently.

UK price £259/£319 @ UK Mi Store
mobile.mi.com/uk/…a2/

China price:
At its China cheapest £149
Current cheapest £148 @ Dreami Store Aliexpress (may incur customs)
m.es.aliexpress.com/ite…tml

3101776.jpg
Mid range maestro:
I could have included the redmi note 6 pro here, but to me they are both the exact same phones, few minimal differences here and there, but the notch was the killer on that phone, so the redmi note 5 gets my nod, excellent, excellent value for money

Sd636
5.99" screen
4000mah battery

UK price £149 wow (32gb) @ Amazon Uk
amazon.co.uk/dp/…TL/
£179 64gb

China price
£160 @ Eglobal (64gb)
eglobalcentraluk.com/xia…tml

(again, this price has been in the £130 mark)

3101776.jpg
Stock android on a budget:
I've included the lite as well, because it has great cameras for a budget phone, it has stock android, and it has a battery that will last all day.

4000mah battery
Sd625
5.65" screen

UK price:
£179/£199 32gb/64gb @ mi store uk
mobile.mi.com/uk/…te/
(same price on amazon uk)
(has been as low as £110)

China price:
£113 @ Eternal aliexpress (may incur customs)
(can be had in the sales, for as low as £115-£135)

3101776.jpg
Low budget king:

The only phone on this list that doesn't have a Snapdragon processor, but still all things to a budget minded buyer.

Helio a22
5.45" Screen (no notch)
3000mah battery

UK price:
£109.99 @ three (£10 minimum top)
three.co.uk/xia…-6a
Mi store £99 mobile.mi.com/uk/…6a/

China price:
£79.99/£89.99 @ Eglobal
eglobalcentraluk.com/xia…tml
(again, can be had in a sale for under £70)

Others:

Mi8 UK:
amazon £459
Three £399.99 (£10 minimum top up)

Mi 8 China:
£280 gearbest
£300 aliexpress/BangGood
Eglobal £319.99 eglobalcentraluk.com/xia…tml

Mi 8 pro:
Mi uk store £499
mobile.mi.com/uk/…ro/

China:
£430 (QHQWHXFV) @ Geekbuying
geekbuying.com/ite…tml

Redmi 6
£126 @ BangGood (always get this from UK)
(Can be had as low as £80 from china)

UK price:

The whole UK launch has been disappointing really.

Will these phones if ordered from China work in the UK?

no you can only use them in china so you'll need to factor in emigration costs...
Great write up.

I'm interested in the Yotaphone 3, if anyone knows a cheap place to buy it then I'm all ears (or another phone with second e-ink screen such as Hisense A2 Pro). Thanks

Great write up.

Thanks, I try my best
Great job. Easy to understand, overcoming the confusing Chinese phone maze.
Presume the pricing is a fair comparison including all taxs and duties.

Much kudos amigo, fantastic post
Again, appreciate and heat for your effort and dedication for HUKD .My vote is for you for Elite MOD posts.(If there is one!)
I find with these mega threads, they get that long that in the end people just get fed up trying to read the comments using them as reviews for a particular item, plus can never get to the last page of comments with ease,

IMHO a total messed up thread in the end that no one can find what will help

Currently, but there's always a flash sale to be had on any of the above phones I guess, so it maybe worth waiting until one gets posted at a ridiculous price before deciding.
Nice one. Will have a read of this later.

What's the Expert Programme?
Wicked ..... I like your passion towards xiaomi

Sorry about that, I thought I'd try and avoid confusion, but clearly not for you haha
Great thread thanks for this
What a list! Thanks for this great post.

Edit: List not least... Still getting used to swipe on swift keyboard. No excuse, I should read before posting

Thanks for taking the time to write this up @mrswitch

I am looking for a mid range phone but they all seem to be phablet size (greater than 15cm in height)

Which phone would you recommend that is more akin to a phone size, like say a standard iPhone 8 (not plus) ?
Thanks for the break down for people like me who are interested, yet have never bought a Chinese phone before.
Any deals on a black mi mix 2s with 128gb???
Mr Switch or Mrs Witch, Great Effort and Heat added
I'm a pretty technically minded person but for whatever reason I have never really looked at the Chinese phones. Great overview and ranking post.

for the effort and usefulness

Have you tried the A2 lite, 5.65" screen, pretty good all rounder really.
Great thread. Still loving my RN5 that you flagged up in June. Best £120 I ever spent!
Brilliant work.
Congrats on being chosen mate, well desrve
Excellent info. Thank you
Thanks again for your post. It clarifies your views amongst various phones. Interesting to read that you're part of this "pepper expert programme" but I hope it keeps your posts honest and reliable as I do worry any reward may shift what you post about and your recommendations but also puts doubt into everyone's credibility. I'm glad hukd does declare this PEP
Joybuy cheaper for 6A36050007-PA4Oy.jpg

Totally, I'm not gonna change my posting style at all, and I hope the rest in the program don't, I've done it this way from the beginning, and just because I'm now rewarded doesn't mean I'm gonna change.
I'm looking for a phone that I can connect through a cable to my TV ,are there any of these versions that would allow that? Not up to scratch on my phone's
