UPDATED 6/2/16: LG G4 PAYG £225 @ Vodafone Lots of stock ***See Details Below*** Converted from Contract Stock

Found 2nd Feb 2016
I've been after the LG G4 PAYG and it appears to be out of stock in all Vodafone stores. Today, I did a check for contract phones, progressed the order and checked for available phones in my area.

I then visited the store, mentioned that as I understand it, PAYG is out of stock however, it's possible to convert a contract phone to PAYG having spoken to Vodafone chat and in their call centre - and that I could purchase.

I was promptly told 'yep, that's possible' and he phone was promptly changed to PAYG, and an additional £10 top up was required (unless you have a Vodafone Sim, which I didn't).

This is possibility the last option of getting your hands on one of these handsets.

Ways to check:

1 - Follow the link
2 - Choose your pay monthly phone (LG G4)
3 - Chose your bundle (any - doesn't matter as you're just aiming to find out stock availability)
4 - go to basket
5 - Under 'Free delivery or collection in the UK' click on 'Check Availability in your Store' there you can enter post codes and postal towns. You'll be able to find out if there is stock in your area or areas further afield.

I found ample stock in the Cambridgeshire area - Ely, Huntingdon, Newmarket and Bury St Edmunds.

There was stock in Hampshire, Cardiff, Stratford etc.

Where the store check indicates 'stock in x days' this means they will have stock then so gives you a heads up to check on that day.

Be sure to check for both the silver and red models as these show up differently and it's a good idea to check early in the morning - however the stocking system is updated within minutes - the store where I purchased mine said it had no stock when I checked 25 minutes after purchasing so the above method is a fairly good way to check.

I am aware this has been posted previously for PAYG however the above is a different way to get your hands on the handset that is oficially out of stock for PAYG.

I hope this is of some use to those who have missed out.

Lots of sellers on ebay will unlock your G4 within minutes - I paid £2.99 and the unlock was with me in 25 minutes.

Remember when you go in to the store to ask nicely but with confidence. This helped me and the staff were more than accommodating and helpful.

Perhaps, but many on here are still after one and I thought having purchased one today, it would be useful to share how I went about it. Average to you, not to others.

Confirmed as working [well actually it worked] on Monday, well worth *any* effort to get
one at £225, especially as it is a nowhere near "average" handset.. unless you of course
have paid £500-900 for a "very under average" Crapple iBone
Good find.
All the stores I check it says "Available for free collection in 2 - 4 working days"... would that mean I'd get it in store if I turn up?

The stock levels change a lot. I would check in the morning. I saw no stock in Cambridgeshire on Sunday or yesterday then it suddenly showed up. I would also hazard a guess that they will be getting stock in that timeframe - as Vodafone clearly have stock in their warehouse in order to fulfil orders.
I will keep an eye out. Really want this phone for the "average" camera and "average" specs!

Just out of interest what's the serial number of the phone you got? It's not one of the 505-509 models which had the bootloop issues is it?
hi. genuinely confused with the 'average' comment. I want the best android camera, and this seems better than my oneplusone.
I've had this phone for over 6 months and love it but more I've seen the LG V10 I want that as soon as I can get my hands on one. with checking out if you like the latest and greatest. also the LG G5 is rumoured to launch within the next fortnight.
can confirm that they don't have an issue converting contract to PAYG, did this for me before Christmas when first posted. Didn't even ask, they offered me the choice of red leather (PAYG) or black (contract). Took 2 mins to 'convert' the stock to PAYG

When you say 'convert' what do they exactly do? Do they remove the phone from its box and do something to it or is it just a few entries on a computer?
I had this phone for a month and ended up to sell it as battery life was less than a day( even after 6.0 update), leather back looked cheap as well- not a premium phone, above average. The only impressive thing about this phone is its display and camera (but only when used on daylight, otherwise very noisy pics).
I love my lg g4 and I change my phone every 3 to 4 months. I'm staying with this for a while as I tale a lot of pics and the camera is the est I have used on a phone. Front facing camera is 8mp and takes great shots. Like with any android phone to get the best battery just disable all the stuff you won't use. I easily get a day out of mine and I'm a heavy user. Expandable storage and 32gb built in. Love it
The 2-4 days don't mean that it will be in stock in store, it means if you order an LG G4 it will take 2-4 days if you order online to be delivered in to the store of your choice.

I actually got one and it's a cracking phone. It is also a phone with a serial number that starts 507 and I've no problems with it apart from sometimes when you first boot it up it doesn't latch onto the Vodafone network. I just switch data off and back on again and it latches onto the network.

This is simply the best mobile I have ever owned - yes I have had iPhones and several Galaxy S devices. The camera in manual mode is incredible, speed and stability of the OS is excellent. Battery could be a little better, but at least I have the option to swap it out without bothering with an external power pack and the risk of damaging the data port. Average no - exceptional at this price.

I believe it is a 507 model having checked. I can take it back I guess, within two weeks to any vodafone store if I encounter priblems - thereafter it's straight to LG from what I have read on forums.

The camera is astounding compared to my trusty G2 - especially night shots.

I've just upgraded to Marshmallow via LG Bridge for windows and I've noticed no issues so far.
read Vodafone customer reviews before giving into this terrible company if your new to them. not voting either way but a harsh warning regardless. hope someone gave this to me before hand.

I only wish you had posted this on earlier threads before I got stuck with them, worst company ever, firstly you will wait up to an hour before anyone answers ur call after which you will transferred and another hour there etc etc and you will keep calling them everyday with no resolution.
3 months ago, the LG G3 was getting 1800 degree heat for being in Argos at £199.99. It got 550 degrees a month ago selling at 190 quid.
This is the G4 guys. Wake up and smell the Gold Blend. (_;)
Vodaphone did this for me just before Christmas. They had no PAYG stock but two handsets that were destined for contract sign ups. A bit of tapping on the computer and it said 'yes' and that was it. Manager actually suggested it herself, so they can definitely do this.

Its a lot more than an average device, show me another phone at this price with these specs and an SD card slot and removable battery, not forgetting the QHD screen. With Marshmallow it absolutely flies, admittedly I had to unlock & root mine to get the official LG version as I dont believe Vodafone had rolled it out yet.
As per previous threads, you can unlock for £2.50ish and you lose all the Vodafone bloat bar the startup splash screen without rooting by using LG Up software. I moved from a Z3 and am very impressed. Maybe you could get a better phone, but you'd have to pay at least twice as much. This is mobile phone deal of the year as far as I'm concerned.
Done this in Glasgow Fort shop recently, easy peasy & a bargain for a great prone. Cost £2.49 to unlock phone via well known auction website

Agreed. joined June last year. I've had so many issues with them. incorrect correct, owe me hundreds and all proven on recorded calls to them. no email and useless complaint service. they hang up on me and never call back. sent deadlock letter and about to go to the ombudsman. Can't wait for Vodafone to be taken over or go bust, heavy fined etc. I rant everyday over social media on their pages.
Hmm, this or a Galaxy Note 4 for £199.00?
Galaxy Note 4 for £199. Would you mind letting us know where, or is it a private deal?

Speak to customer support and ask them to give you the store numbers for your local branches. Then you can call and check stock directly. That's what I did and got lucky when it actually said no stock online.

Wow. You could just unlock the phone and use another network?
Mine updated to MM, OTA on Monday.

Any need for that? Really? Different product for different users and he didn't even mention iPhones.
Using mine now sweet deal. If you can get a leather version the back leather cover sells for over £20. You get a spare plastic back too.

My apologies, it should have read galaxy Note 3
I have been struggling for the last 2 weeks to return the handset, got it but don't want it, still sealed in box. just not able to get someone to arrange collection, they say the date but no one turns up. Raised complaint with CEO which didn't help either.

I am planning to do a charge back with my credit card company and they should sort it out with Vodafone if they want the phone back

Can confirm that this worked in Newmarket, Suffolk.
Hi,

Just a little confused, so you don't actually purchase the contract online correct? You just add to basket to confirm stock availability?

Correct, the phone is held at the store of your choosing on the order, if you can find a store that states "available by 5pm today" [or whatever time your stores close] that means it is *physically* there for collection from held stock at
VF, if the cart states "available / delivered in 2-3 days" it is not in the store and is shipped from Berkshire holdings
or from a Kondor hub ;-)

Note:
Natural Android MarshMallow 6 is now being sent via *some* OTA handsets in the UK.. if yours is not finding
it, turn if off, take the sim and battery out for at least 5 minutes [maybe go and buy some more hukd deals!]
then put the battery back, NOT the sim card, fire up your LG software, plug the phone in via USB only and
make sure that Wi-Fi is off on the phone.. go to updates and wait, it *should* then force a MM6 upgrade to
the handset.. it might take a while to find it and you might need to repeat it once or twice but it should then
do it there and then.. once update to MM6 is done via LG software, then wait until it reboots, might be twice
again, once all setup, turn it off, slip your sim back in and your done..still not working after trying that?

Delete, as in uninstall one of the stock LG apps or if on a locked network, one of the bloatware ones that
came with the handset.. once done, turn it off, take sim and battery out, wait 5 mins, put battery back in
and turn it on, turn on wifi and then go to software updates.. it might say something like you need to put
the app you deleted / uninstalled back on, ignore that, press check for updates, then install MM6 that
way.. let it update, once all done, switch it off, put your sim back in, turn it on.. also once that is done
you can then click airplane mode, leave it for 5 mins and then switch airplane mode back off, this will
get you a nice new radio modem tag and a better signal than you had *sometimes* than before..

The LG G4 was already a top of the shop flagship and was very, very under rated for the price that
it was sold at before.. now it is £225 + Android Marshmallow 6 = stunning in all respects!

YES the LG G5 is coming, YES the Samsung S7 is coming, YES Cruz will be the next US president
but all of those will cost you a blooming fortune.. this will not!
Finally got mine today after a lot of hunting the thimble. Chap in store was great: v friendly and no issues at all; even got me some water whilst I waited. Will unlock from eBay later and give 4K video a crack. All needed now is webos 3.0 on tbi and sorted!

Sorry I asked this before but no one replied. How do they convert the phone to PAYG? Do they remove it from the box and do something or is it something done on a computer?
djc0367

As per previous threads, you can unlock for £2.50ish

I just managed this week to get one online using the other thread announcment but this latest batch isn't being recognised by the ebay unlockers. Tried 3 of them so far and they said the IMEI isn't in the database whatever that means.
