Canon are giving upto £50 cashback on their brilliant Powershot series of cameras(on purchases between 20th and 31st March). The cheapest i have found on the internet are given above. Checkout the other posts that give more details on these cameras.

They are the best in terms of picture quality and performance amongst the compact cameras. I have owned the Canon A560, A720IS, A620 and they have all been excellent in all conditions indoor/outdoor/low light, taking very good snaps. All the reviews on the internet are very positive.

Nothing else catches those special moments like a Canon PowerShot digital camera. And now you can catch an amazing cashback offer as well.

To claim your cashback, simply purchase your camera, complete the claim form and send it back to us, together with your till receipt. We will send you your cheque within 28 days. (http://www.canon.co.uk/Images/Claim%20Form%20UK_tcm14-500378.pdf)

But remember the cashback offer is only available on Canon PowerShot cameras purchased between Thursday 20th March to Monday 31st March 2008.

My pick of the bunch would have to be the A590IS which is an 8 Megapixel Camera with 4x OPTICAL zoom and Image Stabilisation!! for only 79.99 delivered from RankHour!!!

How come this hasn't hit the front page, its over 50 degrees?

Not for me at all. But it's still hot. These are apparently great cameras. I just wish they were small enough to fit in your pocket. I suppose that's what the Ixus range is for.

Someone please, please, please tell me that you get cashback deals with the Ixus range?

Although the offer says A720IS is only available from Jessops, I'm pretty sure the offer will still apply if bought from other UK retailers. I bought one from buyacamera.co.uk last time that this promotion was run (its only £101.98 delivered now after cashback ). The A590IS is probably the better deal now though.

I can't believe I've mentioned the possibilty of this happening on a few thread over the last couple of weeks, and then earlier today said that it didn't look like it was happening this year!

Now I've just got to decide whether or not to buy a camera that I don't really need!

I'd love the A720IS, don't forget to use Quidco if you buy from Jessops, should bring the A720IS a bit nearer to the £100 mark!

To enter the promotion, the participant must purchase the Canon PowerShot A560, A580, A590 IS, A720 IS or A650 IS from a participating retailer in the UK or the Republic of Ireland

doesn't that mean any internet shop would be fine? I am think of buying from camerabox.co.uk

Buy it from Jessops for £104.99, use the Jessops10 code to get 10% off the £150 price to bring it down to £134.99. So £104.99 after cashback and quidco 3% on top if you use that. Plus you can pick it up in store tomorrow. (cheers Mincer)

I'm after a new compact camera. My Fuji S5600 is a bit chunky for everyday use.
How do the A590 and A720 compare to the Panasonic DMC-TZ3? I know the Pansonic has a better zoom but there don't look to be many manual features. The thing I'm more bothered about is image quality especially in low light conditions.

The Canon Powershot are larger then the Canon IXUS range but that allows the use of a larger lens which allows more light to enter the camera which means you can get better pictures in low light. The camera also has a AF(autofocus) Assist Lamp which helps in getting nicely exposed pictures. The Panasonic isnt as good as the Canon when it comes to sharpness in the image. Compare the sample pictures from Steve Digicam reviews:

have a look at the picture of the building with the eahle badge, compare the stone/marble bricks of the building, i prefer the output from the A650.

Awesome prices but don't tell lies, the A650IS has been out for 6months

this may help with some deals..remember to check regularly
the 720 is available at other places...one is slightly cheaper than jessops £125 plus postage

Are rankhour a "participating dealer?

typical I bought one just last week!

The A720IS is only officially available in the UK from Jessops, it is available in America though, so I suspect that other retailers are selling US sourced stock. They may or may not allow the cashback, I'd probably phone first to check, or not risk it, for the sake of a few quid!

Voted Hot ... thanks to the OP for pointing this offer out.
If you go through Quidco and buy the A720 IS there is a 10% discount code, to use at checkout, which appears on the first page as you enter the Jessops website from the Quidco link.

The A590IS is available for £115.95 from Amazon, £6 more then RankHour but that might be worth paying for Amazon's price drop policy, where you can ask for a refund of the difference if the price drops within 30 days of your purchase.
hotukdeals.com/for…268

I did this last year and Amazon were also giving a free camera case if bought with the camera. You just had to add it to your basket and it would be discounted at checkout. Does anyone know if Amazon are doing a similar offer at present?

Thanks.

Original Poster

I have had a look around and can't see any such offer on the net or on Amazon. Does anyone know where you can see a list of their special offers, like freebies, cashbacks?

Original Poster

I have placed an order for my camera from Amazon for the A590IS costing £115.95 (£85.95 after cashback) as i will be able to get a refund on any difference if the price drops within 30 days and i think its worth the £6 premium over the RankHour price for the service i get from Amazon.

Hmmm I'm looking to buy a camera, these do seem good it'd be either a A720IS or A650 as they have the longer zoom, was considering a Panny TZ3 aswell, but these canon's at this price are great value and offer great quality and manual controls! Had a canon in the past.

I can confirm from my last experience that co.uk web address invoice will be OK for cashback.
I bought from komplett.co.uk for 720is last bank holiday. the camera shipped from Holland and I got the cash back.

My only concern would be if they choose to be more strict this time. If the website you buy from doesn't mention it, and then Canon refuse to honour it, you're left with a more expensive camera that I think you'd struggle to return, for the sake of trying to save £5-£10, I don't think I'd risk it - but then I am a bit pessimistic!

ciao.co.uk/Bes…996

Great deal, going for the A720IS or A650. you cant touch Canon, some top reviews for these two. Will have a look in Jessops tommorow and see which one I like.

awesome deal, not had enough exposure on main page IMHO, the deal on the 560 is especially good

Decided to go with A590IS as it has image stabilization, 8mp, 4X zoom, ISO to 1600, and both aperture and shutter priority, basically it is a A720IS, but the A720IS is 7 months old, where as the
A590IS is only 2 months old the A720IS has 6X zoom, but doesn't have aperture and shutter priority, but does have manual focus, the way I found this out was at this website www.dpreview.com this site is American though so double check against Canon UK websites specs, at this website it allows you to check 3 cameras specs side by side, timelines and everything you need to make a dicission on which camera fits your needs, I was going to buy a A590IS from Rankhour or Eatay, but there is hardly any feedback for these, and the postage is between 10 to 14 days thats just to long, so I've found BT shop www.shop.bt.com it has free delivery on products over £99, 1to 3 days, price grabber says BT shop is £117.40, but when I checked on BT shops website it's £112.29 also 2.5% Quidco (thats another £2.80 off), on non BT branded products, hope this helps anyone confused by all the different models Canon seem to do.

Just recieved my A590is 2 days after ordering it from BT shop, very impressed by speed of delivery, even got it slightly cheaper at £112.05, after buying it, it dropped again to £111.83, the total price I paid including all cashback is £78.76
