Looking to replace the tv and this looks a good deal though i have a feeling it is a clearance. Was £899 i think in Black Dridays deals and John Lewis doing as a price match at only £799 invluding 5 year warranty. Thoughts people, order now and not miss the boat or see what happens on Monday in the sales?

Sony’s stunning audio-visual showpiece represents a titanic shift in home entertainment. Ushering in eye-popping 4K HDR, this breaks the mould of regular panels by packing its 55” screen with a greater colour palette. This depth-enhancing tech is backed by Sony’s innovative TRILUMONOS backlight, crisp 400Hz motion rate and intuitive Android Smart platform. This even has built-in Playstation Now, letting you play selected PS3 games without needing a console. At the cutting-edge of TV technology, the XD80 is a complete hub that will change the complexion of your living room.
Plumb The Colourful Depths Of HDR
Forays into colour-boosting High Dynamic Range (HDR) have begun, and Sony are one of the forerunners. As members of the newly-founded UHD Alliance, they've delivered top-shelf HDR with a staggering 10-bit colour depth. This means that there are over a billion individual colours to deepen your view and show shades you’ve never seen in home entertainment before. Usually, studios are forced to dilute the colour of their shows and films to fit on our TVs. Now, HDR screens like the XD80 can channel content from studio-to-living room with the same precision and utterly otherworldly hues.
Rich, Ravishing 4K
To respond to screens getting bigger, brands have packed their screens with more pixels. This 55” screen has four times the number of pixels than 1080p HD TVs, delivering stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail.
Up-Scaling 4K X-Reality PRO
Enhance everything you watch on your Sony Bravia TV with the 4K X-Reality PRO. This engine boosts the picture quality of everything from dazzling 1080p Blu-ray Disc™ movies to very low-resolution Web video to 4K. After analysing each pixel and comparing patterns, the system restores detail lost in compression and transmission. The system also reduces noise and reproduces optimum contrast, colour and sharpness. The result is that you experience stunning 4K picture quality with better clarity, for anything you watch.

Now even more confused lol. Here are my requirements if someone who has the knowledge can explain in layman terms and perhaps offer some advice. Would like a 50" ish, this would be my maximum size, as dont want to overpower the bungalow we live in. I understand that with 4K bigger is better as far as quality goes. I watch most content via my Tivo box and recorded in HD. Dont watch a lot of sport on it as i have Sky Go and watch on my tablet. Dont play games on it. This is about my maximum budget, happy to pay this but am i buying something i neither need or would use to its full potetial. Help before i go mad lol.

Oh, Merry Xmas to you all

Hi, this is a great option for you - it's a good price and a really sleek design with what is now an excellent operating system. Sony are probably the best brand for someone like you who won't watch much native 4K content, and that's because their upscaling is fantastic. Unlike other manufacturers who tend to just add in pixels of a similar colour, Sony upscaling works out that you're looking at, for example, a leaf, then Ann's in pixels that will help to give a greater-defined image. Naturally it can't make HD into true 4K, but it will certainly have a damned good go at it. Enjoy!

Yeah, it was awful at launch, but I have a 43X83, 55X85 and a 65XD93 - they're all excellent, even the X83 and X85 which, at the time I got them, were pretty glitchy. I guess that's what's great about an OS like Android - any issues that get flagged are dealt with pretty quickly!

Does this have 3D?

with most Sony 4k televisions now they've done away with 3d which makes our 3d collection useless unless you have a 3d television already

Well the 3D is out now......nobody today makes TV with 3D.......

Just been knocked back
"Having investigated your price match with Co Op Electrical, It has transpired that the
Sony Bravia 55XD8005 LED HDR 4K Ultra HD Android TV, 55" With Youview/Freeview HD, Playstation Now & Silver Slate Design with Co Op Electrical is priced at £799.99 which is more expensive than John Lewis.

Unfortunately we are unable to accept the "cptv50" voucher code as this is not on Co Op Electrical website therefore is not publicly available to all customer. Therefore we are unable to accept as this does not comply with our price match policy

Therefore, I cannot agree a price match on this occasion."

Voted hot.. This is a complete bargain.
If you can afford the extra £150 I'd go for the ks7000. Compared the 2 in Currys a few months ago and the ks7000 won hands down.
Both awesome tvs

How does the 55XD85 blow the KS7000 out of the water? Doesn't it have an IPS panel?

purchased this from Co-op who are now saying they won't honour the 5 year warranty they were giving with the product because they refute that they advised it with it.
