URGENT - Stamp Price Increase Reminder - Current Stamp Deals Inside - Stock Up Before Price Increase On 30th April - NEW PRICES NOW IN EFFECT

The Superdrug and WHSmith deals appear to now be over, current deals on stamps include:

Costco: 6.8% off first class. 2.9% off 2nd class

Staples: Some people are having success ordering stamps with Staples with small value items which will net you 9.09% TCB

Even if you can't get a discount on stamps, it's best to stock up now before the increase in price after 30th April

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a reminder for people who use stamps a lot to stock up before the price rise on April 30th.

1st class rise from 46p to 60p - 2nd class from 36p to 50p on 30 April. Stock up now, if they say 1st or 2nd class not cost they stay valid after the rise

Superdrug are still running their 5% off promotion (possibly only on 1st Class Stamps) - thanks mutley1

Superdrug allows a maximum of 72 stamps per person per day

WHSmith discount appears to be store specific - thanks to HesFamily4

Staples are offering 9.09% TopCashBack - thanks sheely-wheely

These are pretty big rises so stock up before the rise!

WHSmith are still doing 5% off both 1st and 2nd Class stamps too!
- HesFamily4

This is also useful for paying for the postage of larger packages after the 30th April as you can pay for all postage in stamps rather than cash.

Just reiterate - generic 1st and 2nd class stamps WILL still be valid after the price increase. Stamps with monetary value printed on them will be worth less after the increase as far as I can see.

rip off mail strike again
wow what a rip off the new prices are!
cant believe it... well I can but thats ridiculous!
Stamps are the best investment out there £32 of 100 second class stamps bought in March 2011 will now be worth £50 in April 2012 beats 1% in the bank
Thought I'd post so people are prepared and aren't caught out I accept small price rises but these rises are extremely steep.
Is this available online? I couldn't find stamps last time I looked on Superdrug's website.

I originally made this an offline deal and linked it to Royal Mail as it looks like the Superdrug offer is instore only. Tbf, even if you can't get to a Superdrug, stocking up at normal price is better than waiting until after the price hike.
Alot of the royal mail services are been subjeted to VAT, currently special delivery is i believe, but come april 5th alot more will be

bad news for my online post account

Special Delivery rates are through the roof now. I try and avoid wherever possible unless I'm sending really high valuable goods through the post.
But will these old ones be valid if the prices go up on them or you will need to put two stamps on your parcel?

Any generic 1st or 2nd class stamps will be valid. Only stamps with money value printed on them will be affected. So buying your standard book of stamps will still work after the price increase.

ocado £15.00 off first online shop and £6.00 cashback through quidco

On stamps? that would be amazing!
Even after 30th.April UK will be still cheaper than most of the rest of the world's postal services!
From Ocado Terms & Conditions:

Money off your shop Vouchers

Entitles you to money off your total shop. The Voucher will state the amount that will be deducted from your bill, how much you need to spend in order to get money off (if applicable), Voucher codes, in which order to use them and the Voucher expiry date. Where the Voucher does not state a minimum spend, you must spend a minimum of £75 to be entitled to redeem your Voucher. The order total, which you must reach to qualify for the offer, is inclusive of VAT, but generally exclusive of any delivery charge and the cost of cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, postage stamps and infant formula.

I can get to Superdrug no problem - was just trying to get cashback with Quidco.
When does the Superdrug promotion end?
I would love to see someone get a letter from one end of three country to the other for less than a quid the service we offer is good value and without the price increase more people will lose their jobs

Not saying it isn't still a cheap service but a price increase is a price increase and HUKD are all about saving those pennies!
We took the decision this morning, on seeing the proposed price rise, to stop sending any Christmas cards this year. 1) the cards are a rip off price and 2) so will the cost of sending them be.

Technically they will still be worth the same (i.e. their printed value), they just won't be enough to send a 1st/2nd class letter.

Well their monetary value will remain the same but in relation to how much extra it will cost on top after the price hike their value will be worth less to an extent
Not bothered personally, only send out the odd letter, but is terrible for businesses on EBAY for example, margins even smaller....when will the country learn that the UK is built on the foundations of small businesses!! Let the big ones win and give them tax breaks and let the small and vulnerable crumble...disgusting

rip off mail strike again

12 shillings for a stamp.........God knows what my grand parents would say if they came back.
Anyone remember the days when 1st class used to be 25p and 2nd class used to be 22p.

Everyone should switch to scan and email.
cheers for the heads up OP.

i don't think this deal applies to 2nd class stamps. i went in a couple of months ago and could only get the reduction on first class, not 2nd class stamps.

Thanks for the info. Tbh, I only really included Superdrug specifically as they have the 5% on atm but this is more of a 'heads up' deal in general before the price hike
Who on earth added 'PS3' as a tag?
Still cheaper than taking it yourself.....Wonder if ebay let sellers put their P&P prices up ?

If anyone is against the increase, theres always this alternative:-

yep, just like us supposedly rich middle earners - take, take, take - we used to help others and give to charity - but when we needed help like when i was made redundant for 1st time in 22 years and wife was ill we got f all help - no benefits, no support, nothing - now i dont give to charity or help anyone - stuff em - its alright for the tv stars to go on about charity, very easy in an mansion/ivory tower
Shocking rise

...because all letters travel from one end of three [sic] country to the other...and all on their individual velvet pillow...

...and even then, more often that will ever be excusable, the last few yards is made by a helpful neighbour because the postman is dyslexic, lazy or plain negligent.

The post office is helping to make itself redundant...at least at local business level.
balluji

does anyone know the price for large letters as of 30/4?

There's a PDF with the new prices at

royalmail.com/sit…pdf

(UK prices are on page 2)

Note that they've got rid of some of the lower weight categories for sending packets (its now just a 0-750g rate) which will hit ebayers sending light items that are too big to be sent as large letters.
