Found this great deal on a mechanical keyboard with red keys. seems a steal for a mechanical keyboard of any kind. Only downside is that its not true RGB and also its US keyboard layout. Got myself one and didn't see it on the site so thought should give everyone a heads up.

Crazy tacky looking but good reviews and great price. Can't beat a mechanical keyboard. Heat added.
hot, just ordered
red is a pound cheaper too
I am strongly against buying keyboards that are not from a reputable manufacturer. There has been numerous reports of cheap keyboards fitted with keyloggers which can send out sensitive information without anyone knowing it. I would just pay a bit more for that piece for mind.

Yeah but with prices of around £100 for reputable keyboards such as the K70, its nice to see some nicer price tags every now and then for keyboards which are basically the same except for the robustness. Anyway don't believe that crap about keyloggers and have heard no such reports from this keyboard.
Keep in mind this looks like it's a US keyboard from the picture. Not a massive deal but US enter buttons suck and some keys are set differently.

ill stick with my k70 thanks.
Ok I'm basically a retired gamer now having had children. But I will return one day. Probably in about 16 years. Anyway...

What is all the fuss about mechanical keyboards? My keyboard (which doesn't have a windows key it's that old) seems perfectly fine and I've never though that it needed improving. Not like when there was the switch from ball mice to laser ones, now that was a significant and much needed improvement. I just don't understand what they could do better? Mine never fails to notice I'm pressing it and it isn't difficult to press the keys?? I'm happy to be educated.

It's like the difference between driving up a steep, twisty hill in a 1995 Vauxhall Nova and a Nissan GTR. Both will get you to the top, but the experience will be different.

As far as I can tell the advantage is that it goes "clunk" when you press it... Just like old keyboards did, possibly like the one you have does?, but other than this from what I can tell it's all marketing spin and BS which with the addition of some LEDs means you can sell old technology for absurd prices. Personal I've never had a problem with the key feel of modern keyboards, in fact I much prefer it. I also prefer it being much quieter than old keyboards. But it's trendy, customisable and expensive so you can brag about it on FaceTwatter to your peers.

Not really. It's more like driving up the hill in an 80s Ferrari or in a new Fiesta. One looks cool and is great to brag about down the pub but has major drawbacks and the other is cheap, reliable, more comfortable but less trendy....
What's the difference with the uk keyboard layout and the US keyboard layout? On this keyboard

I think you are mistaking the new craze for lighting with the love of using quality, well made components and the feel that gives. I, personally, am using an ergonomic, non-mechanical keyboard and it is fine for me. There is a reason that people like mechanical keyboards though, and they are usually gamers who will do lots of very fast keystrokes and they need to work in that environment, every time etc. I'm not arguing for them because I have one, but there is a point to them above bragging rights and stupid lighting.

It doesn't look like there's any macro keys on this so you'd lose nothing if you plugged it into a ps2 adapter. Although now as I've typed it I realise you may lose the lights.

Mechanical keys have a much quicker response time than membrane keys, they are far less squashy and because of this they fare better for movement in games or for activating abilities in RPG’s.

Call it BS all you want, after all it’s a matter of taste and if you are into hammering keys whenever then membrane would suit you. But there are definitely benefits to owning a mechanical keyboard.

In pretty much the same boat, building a pc with my kids to help them get into it but don't have a keyboard so have to assume this is better than the bluetooth mini keyboard we have. I dont think its going to make them hardcore gamers though, just look cool and at a bargain price too.
Price is 15 quid now, STILL best buy secondary keyboard to the shelf:)! And finaly red switches, not blue...
it makes me laugh the way people go nuts for mechanical keyboards
i remember when non mechanical ones came out
and god where we glad to see the back of mechanical ones
awful awful

I've got a mech. Very quiet and you only have to touch the keys before they activate.

The Logitech G810 that was on Black Friday. The light does not shine from under the keys.
