doesn't write dvds but id prefer that over a dx thing

You're possibly goin to get stung with customs duty stuff as well.

You've got to be nuts to buy something like this from dx, don't have much luck with electrical's from them!

VAT only on this item. If you are unlucky enough to get caught.

plus handling fee

This doesn't look like a great quality product, the Lite On posted before would be a better buy in my opinion.

How's that work then? Why no customs duty?

Mmmm I only ask because I ordered a guitar from the states that was $225 and they only charged me VAT and handling charge... and I still don't know why!!

should have been 3% i think.. ah well what a shame!!

Also, you would have thought they'd have put the fact that it plays Blurays on the box somewhere... but no, apparantly the fact that it has a usb port is more of a selling point.....

Apart from being under the minimum value threshold, computers and software incur no import duty into the UK, although this drive could arguably come under video/audio equipment. Given the way that the box is labeled, most likely under computer parts.

The value in this is more with the optical drive within the housing. If the usb port goes, you can easily pick up another usb drive caddy from ebay for about a tenner.

It is clearly a homemade item. DX has got hold of some notebook BR drives and bunged them in some generic caddies, which it packages in generic boxes under slim drives. That way, DX can use the same box for CD ROMs, DVDRWs and BR/DVDRWs.
