i was thinking the same @73greystoke although you might have to turn them off while driving, only red light (excluding indicators) are allowed (legally) to be seen from the rear (and only white from the front)... i bought a few sets to light up the rear garden paths, i hope the chickens appreciate them lol.

Argos do the USB battery pack for these if it helps anyone. Its in their 3 for 2 as well. Hopefully will help someone, makes them a bit more versatile with the battery pack I suppose.

What an absolutely wonderful thing I don't have any need for.

Ordered.

Exactly. I can justify it to myself by thinking "it may be useless tat, that I will never use, but it was useless tat I'll never use with 83 percent off".

Any good if connected to a rechargeable usb power bank?

any 5v/USB output should work depending on the maximum current available from the power bank, unfortunately there's no info on the current draw from the lights but i'd guess they'd work on a USB standard output (normally rated at about 1A), however most recent power bank can happily supply 2A or more.. but again it's just guess work how long the power bank will last unless you know the actual power capacity & the power being drawn from it.
if you've not already got one, i'd recomend a "USB doctor" the really good ones are just over £4 but tell you voltage on all lines (the data lines), current draw, capacity, memory & timer Ect... i might find one to post here if i get chance, it's a pretty decent bit of USB testing kit.

Usb doctor sounds great. More info would be great. Just got to find suitable outdoor christmas lights that would pair up. Under pressure to sort this at home.

aliexpress.com/ite…tml here you go dude, it's at £3.71 for the next 2 days with this seller apparently which is less than i payed.

i only checked Ali & Ebay.com, try Amazon if you like but i don't have an account with them, it's just never been the cheapest place whenever i've searched for anything.

Hi WizardOfWelshness,
Sorry I didnt come back earlier. Had Internet problems. and seems I missed the ali offer an no web link now. In the mean time some led outdoor lights with usb connector arrived. They power up from my power bank after mains charged etc. Can move the power bank to lights anywhere 😃. But there is a BUT. The power bank auto shuts down (tried 2 different makes of power bank and both same). Theyre working as normal and doesnt seem to be aware that the led lights are drawing power. Look great twinkling for couple of min though.. Wonder if theres a cheapo 'thingy' I could hang off another usb socket on the power bank that retains the "hi were still here" and thus power bank stays on?. Thoughts?. Thanks for continued help. Will try find the tester online also..
