    Unfortunately the one I bought recently was poorly built, USB C connector bent within the first couple of uses. Never had that before on the many other cables I've used. Great quality ethernet cables though 😄

    Was that this cable from Kenable? I've purchased many cable networks, HDMI etc from them all fine.

    That should in theory limit you to 500mA on USB 2.0

    56k resistor signals to the device that this is a legacy USB connection, and power negotiation should be done like before (Battery Charging specification providing up to 1.5A, or standard 500mA).

    Most bad cables advertise 3A capability instead. That tells the device to draw 3A, which is unsafe with all USB-A chargers and ports (since they only support up to 1.5A).

    Can you fast charge over usb A? Any usb charger pumping over an amp through a usb A socket is out of specification and more likely to damage anything else you connect to it.

    Depends what the definition of "fast" is, 15w should be fine, so most Samsung phones etc.

    Seems a good deal as most are £1.50 - £2 at pound shops and they are usually crap.

    practically every other non OEM cable I've used with my Huawei P30 doesn't allow for fast charging, is this likely to be the same?

    Reading this blog.easyacc.com/201…/it looks like 15W would be fine. You charger also needs to support 1500mA 1.5Amp output. You need a cable like this but your charger needs to support the 1.5A current too. The basic usb spec is only 0.5A or 500mA. (edited)
