I`ve never broken a micro USB to USB cable, however .the lighting connectors to USB seem to break regularly even the real Apple ones (at the connector).
However voted hot
Used to buy the cheap ones quite often and tried Anker, never again cheap cables.
I have this! Bought 3 of them and none of them work!
Had to bin them and use a better quality one.
Bought similar, failed within a few weeks. Went back to standard black cable.

This is not the same one you could get in poundshop.

I fear it probably is. Anker or nothing for me after a cheapy started smoking when charging.
I had a cheap one sent form China and looks the same but it charges much slower. Lesson learned: don't buy cheap USB cables.
A lot of those cables don't have copper are made out of "copper clad" and the wire itself is much thinner too:…722
But I still buy cheap HDMI leads, those don't slow down the image and keep working ;-)
Same experience here.

Used to buy cheapie pound jobs but when the socket of my phone started to get loose decided to get a better quality Ravpower one. Fits better and charging is much faster.

Never going back to budget charging cables again and would even be happy to pay £10 for a good cable. After all we are plugging these cables daily into devices that cost hundreds of pounds.
