I've bought one of these ages ago, it's good for playing on emulators (as long as you use either public domain ROM's or ROM's of games that you already own), but the D-Pad is terrible.

Is there anywhere you can legally get the games roms for use with this emulator?

...I'd love to play Super Mario World on my Tab

What's wrong with the d-pad? Is this not just an original SNES controller with a new PCB inside?

Aside from copying them from your own cart? No.

That is a shame about the D-Pad I really wanted one.

Unless you own the cartridges and the equipment to rip the roms of them then I'm afraid not, illegally though, knock yourself out there's tons of them. There's even websites with Java versions of the emulators with the roms so you can play the online straight out of the bat without downloading anything.
Just wish Nintendo would be smart and release like a LoveFilm type service with the entire collection for a small monthly fee instead of charging ridiculous prices for these 20-30 year old games.

Unfortunately, no, this isn't an original SNES controller, it's a copy, but the D-pad is very stiff and just doesn't feel like a Nintendo controller. There is someone on eBay who does convert old official SNES controllers with a new USB cable, but he charges around £70+ for them.

I wouldn't turn it down just because of the D-pad, and at under £4, it's not a big loss if you don't like it.

You could alwasy buy something like this SNES to USB convertor and use a proper SNES pad, much less than £70...

I admit, compared to this under 4 quid pad that's a bit out there, but the official SNES pads are fantastic, and I'd suspect that most replica pads will pale in comparison.

True, but it is a bit bulky when it's all plugged into a phone or tablet, however, as you say, it's a lot cheaper than £70+

I still got a snes with about 30 carts, all the mario and donkey kong games, f-zero etc.

I think a SNES pad is too bulky to plug into a phone or tablet! I'm sure the PS Vita will make one heck of an emulation machine if and when though...

I've still got a few SNES, with 90+ carts, mostly boxed
Shame it doesn't look great on a 51 inch plasma

Great company but beware. Its an absolutely awful pad. Nothing like the SNES pad. The dpad is as said horrible, but the buttons are also huge and curve upwards. Mario will die a lot being controlled by this!

He just buys these and swaps out the PCB.

Another adaptor on sale at Amazon for original SNES controllers £12.95 delivered, with dual ports:
amazon.co.uk/Dua…5DE

A slightly better bet than the eBay offering mentioned earlier (though still more expensive that chancing it with the D-pad issue).

not that great a deal, most of the usb snes pads on ebay are like £3.50 each. and as has already been said, they will be horrid quality. spend a few coins more on an adapter and pick up a controller from a car boot or something. your hands will thank you for it.

which tablets/phones have usb ports through which you can play emulators on?

will this work with a macbook?

Hence why I have a CRT for hooking up any console older than a PS2

I bought one of these about a year ago and I was left highly disappointed with the buttons and quality compared to my Snes pad. I decided to investigate other options and ended up with 2 original Super Famicom controllers (were cheaper than Snes controllers on ebay) and one of these:

ebay.co.uk/itm…738

Works amazingly well, in fact better than the original Snes I have too as all the games run in 60hz. I thought I was an F-Zero master until I played it in 60hz. The UK snes pad I have works as well as the Super Famicom pads.

On the topic of 'legal' roms - even copying the ROM from your own cart is illegal in some countries (including the UK - we don't have fair use doctrine here) so I'd not get too upset about the whole thing and make a personal moral choice on the issue...

Well there is public domain i.e homemade roms too that are legal

we're all grown ups here, i think we're all capable of making a choice of where we stand with regards to roms and "piracy". Lets all take it for red that it is from legal standpoint, copyright theft.

Expired. Now £4.94

i'm sure i saw one or two mentioning mac when i did that search. why dont you click on it and have a look?

I'm gonna set this up on my raspberry pi lifehacker.com/how…192

They cost £3, I'm not sure what sort of quality you are expecting for that sort of money? But I'm sure they will be fine to use with some emulators...

This ones basically the same but cheaper...

There's a site called Virtual Super NES that claims what it does is legal, but I can't confirm how true that is. (Not going to post a link because I CBA going over the rules to check if I can or not)

...I did want to be able to download a few roms to my android (...ironically, the games I'd be interested in are the games I already own like Mario, Zelda, Soulblazer etc so it wouldn't be entirely illegal...maybe) so I could have a play while out and about on holiday...I couldn't see myself taking an actual game system on my hols!

...I've put SNES9x on my Galaxy Tab and have managed to...ahem...get hold of a Mario rom... ...bet it don't bleedin' work anyway!

...by the way, that Virtual Super Nes site looks like it could be okay for a crafty game at work...thanks
