OK, if you spend £85 on the modem, then use it 3 times a month (it costs £4 per day on PAYG) you will spend £373 over 2 years.

If you get a 2 year contract with free modem at £15 / month (3GB monthly allowance) you will pay £360.

The 2 year contract is better for anyone using mobile broadband more than 3 times per month...
PAYG is better if you use it less than 3 times per month over 2 years.

I know tariffs will change etc, etc but i think most people are better off with a 2 year contract?

3 Mobile USB Modem is £49.99 if you get a student to purchase it. For me, this makes this cold.

Is there a link for that and what is the criteria for student?

There are 2 different criteria. Either you have an .ac.uk student email address and a valid code from the student tour ... or you have a NUS card and go into the store.

Many thanks will get a friend to buy it for me !!

If you can do it online I think you just put their details in and have it sent to their address.

Is that right

Says all you need is your student offer code (on the flyer handed out at the Uni Demo), an ac.uk email address and a credit or debit card.

Anyone know the code?

I got it with my normal yahoo email address with a valid student code that was right at the start of the offer. I don't know if that still works though. I would just try it and see.

I can see these becoming mainstream in a short time, they will be giving away the modems for free.

Fancy sharing the code with us? I've got an .ac.uk address (part time mature student!) but don't have the code....

I think this is a really good deal as I will only need mobile broadband a few times a year when I am away in my caravan. It only costs £4 a day for a 24 hour period and if you dont use it you dont get charged for it. I have ordered one which has cost me £75 using the discount code with free delivery and £3 back via Quidco.
