Check Maplin's own buyer product reviews before buying this. General consensus seems to be that it is rubbish. Voted cold.

Bought this on wed , no problems at all quite easy to use!

.........and if you still have a turntable, then you don't need one at all, just a cheap cable to connect to the PC/Laptop, plus freebie software.

Where to get the professional one? Technics? I have one but mine is very old, but still nice piece of HI-FI kit. Any direct links?

Oh, I don't think so. Output from deck will need a pre-amp to get level up to PC line input!!

Check out:

"5M Turntable PC Converter Kit Vinyl LPs to PC, CD & MP3"

on ebay for £14.50. If you've got a decent stereo setup, you can connect it to your pc to capture/convert vinyl to mp3 and, probably, get better results than with this product.

If you have your deck plugged into an amp, then it's just a phono to 3.5mm jack you need.most people with a record deck would have it attached to an amp already i guess.

Well. yes, but I was assuming if you have kept a turntable, you will have kept the Amp, otherwise you would have chucked it out at the time you chucked that out!

Thanks for the heads up! I was seriously considering buying this as it looked a bargain. Interesting that the Maplin review page has suddenly had a bunch of positive comments added above the more authentic sounding reviews further down.
