Managed to get an Ion turntable recently for this kind of money. They aren't bad. Simple enough to use - plug the USB into your PC, load the software and off you go. Great if you've got vinyl LP's and want to record them into iTunes. If you were a vinyl junkie, you've probably already got a decent set-up anyway, so you may find that this is the sort of thing that would gather a bit of dust.

Can this actually play vinyl to a decent sound (with decent speakers obviously). In the market for a new player and guess this could do a good job for the price?

or ion at maplin for £29.99 + free del not sure which is best , hope it helps

would think be better of with good quality used turntable ie duel cs505 to get decent sound seen them going for less than this one
good price but dont expect quality sound

Would need an amp too though?

Might be forced into getting one of these soon. I've got a decent record player WITH amp but my soundcard is dog muck.

Anyone any advice on whether to get the Tevion over the ION? I'd rather not have iTunes on my laptop, will Audicity work with both and auto split an album. Or is there better software for doing it that works with them?

yes i know for the RIAA equalization you can get stand alone RIAA equalization preamp but would think s/h amp be cheaper also there are some cheap usb phono pre amps for about £20 if you have old turntable this would be cheaper option
