Ordered one for my mac book cos I had enough of plugging and unplugging. Official Apple version cost a bomb and nearest price of similar hubs are around £25. Someone may find this useful.

Big heat given. Just what I need for my Dongle Book Pro! :-)

Can someone explain to me if I need this lol

If you have one of the newer MacBooks(Pro or otherwise) or other laptops which only come with USB-C ports and you want to plug in regular USB(type A) cables, then you'll need this. Otherwise you don't.

Nice find OP & bought. I paid £8.81 as there is a promotion giving 2% off purchase of 1 (see promotional message just below price).

I've got one of these for my Macbook (the one with one USB C port). It works perfectly, the only annoyance is that you can't charge the Mac at the same time as there is no power input (presumably to keep the cost down). I paid a little more than this so heat for the price.

Sorry to be a party pooper here. It seems this does 4K at 30hz.
You can spend a little more and get one that does 4K 60hz.
I'm assuming here that if you can afford the modern MacBooks and a 4K screen, you can probably afford to pay a little extra

Would it work with a Pixel-C?

Does the HDMI output work when connected to phones?

Got a similar thing for ethernet (no HDMI) - it didn't work when directly plugged into the laptop but worked fine when plugged into apple keyboard.

great price...hdmi limitation aside... we paid £35 for an all in one powered +hdmi+ethernet version for my boys xps13 so this is a bargain indeed, despite not having the same functionality

Experienced something similar using a Teknet USB 3.0 to USB 3.0 hub with ethernet. Thought it would be plug-n-play but it required drivers from the manufacturers website to be installed first before it would function correctly.

Dongle arrived today. Great build quality!
