Does not write blu ray disks if people were wondering.
Hot!
95% sure its a bog standard laptop drive inside.
Same as my external HDD.
That is a standard Micro USB 3.0 Female connector
Ive got one you need to be careful about compatibility with the dockable drives. it doesn't work with every thing.
Apologies for wrong initial post, as pointed out by dcx_badass this is the USB3.0 female micro USB-B connector. I wouldn't call it standard compared to the ones on most phones though.
It is a connector which many USB 3.0 external hard drives also have. It is fairly standard and cheap and enables crazy fast speedsspeeds.
You're completely wrong, that is micro USB 3.0, no such thing as exsata, there is esata which looks nothing like that.
eSATA is below, now stop posting crap and do some research.
Apologies, you are right I was deluded for quite some time as both my (external) hard drives and router have these connectors and eSATA ones so I made a wrong deduction. Also googling micro USB for external hard drives gives you the ones most phones use rather than this which most certainly isn't that and I didn't know that I need to add -B when googling. Apologies if my "research" standards aren't up to your standard... I genuinely believed that was esata...
And exSATA is something autocorrect made when I wrote esata...
Anyway thanks for clarifying.
II have set this up (using a different reader admittedly) on win8 for a friend using vlc and some add ons, a quick Google will lead you to a tutorial how to do it.
So yes you can do that, is it plug and play, no it isn't.
The -b doesn't really matter, the difference is most phones use usb 2 micro usb, this is usb 3 micro usb.
I understand but it matters when you try to check what you post via Google :), I was just explaining why I made the mistake.
but the description of the item states:
Package Included:
1 x USB3.0 blu-ray CD/DVD burner drive
No, it's an empty caddy.
No, What I meant is... Is there the reader inside of the caddy or not? Is this just a caddy?
EDIT ** carp its box only I think **
Part number ECD008 SAU3
Same as this "box" on ebay

1 x USB3.0 blu-ray CD/DVD burner drive") and lastly pictures clearly show a drive of some description. So on the face of it you will get a CD/DVD R/W Blue-ray drive.
However, on the other hand it also states "Product is tray loading external portable ODD caddy" and nowhere does it state a read/write speed, plus it's ridiculously cheap, so maybe it is just a caddy?
At the end of the day you're taking a gamble - be prepared to lose £8 if it's not a drive. Forget about returning it - their returns procedure is a nightmare!
If you don't mind losing £8 then worth a risk in my opinion.
If 'Caddy' only, then its kinda DECEPTIVE to Market it as otherwise the way I see it?, or ..... :-(
Lol.
FYI this is respectable (free) blu ray software leawo.com/blu…er/
Poundland sell them as they are the same connector as USB 3 galaxy note phones, a foible of USB 3 drives I own have the same connector
