Playing Multiplayer is free on PC too, not just for a few days but forever

I swear to god, one day I'll be walking down the street and some nerd will pop out from behind a bush and say "Just build a PC! Why are you walking down the street? Just build a PC and use Google Street View from home! Food? Pah! A PC's got all the 'bytes' you need, if you know what I mean!!!!! You have to go to work? Just build a PC and sell it, or use it to work remotely! Why sleep when you can build a PC and put *it* in 'sleep' instead?"

Some people don't want to own or use PCs. Deal with it.

That's fantastic. Slightly irrelivant if you own an Xbox One, like. But I'm sure somebody will appreciate the heads up

Its been 15 years now let it go. I don't mind paying for Xbox Live as it works well.

It’s frustrating that we have to pay a subscription to ‘unlock’ parts of games we have paid £40-50 for. Can’t see it changing though

I’m unsure whether anyone finds comments like this helpful, but I would doubt it.

Does this apply if you have a Mac too?
That PC one-liner really touched a nerve eh?

XBL is worth it for me for the cloud saves and free 360 games when I can get it for £25-30 for the year. PC gaming is a tad pricey to get into as of late, especially with the Xbox One X priced the way it is. The new Ryzen APUs are a good choice for moba/esports gaming builds on a budget at least.

Overall if there are Xbox gamers who are thinking about jumping into PC gaming as well I think that it is definitely a nice bonus that you don't need a multiplayer subscription, but there are some downsides to that such as on PC you need to install multiple store clients such as Origin, Steam, Uplay and so on required for access to the full library of games available on PC, as well as the potentially smaller player-bases in some multiplayer games. This is not an exhaustive list. But of course one of the main advantages you gain is control over resolution and frame rate of the games. This does depend on your hardware i.e. how much money you are willing to throw at it.

Anyway hope this helps someone at least understand that there are pros and cons of both platforms and that if you are so inclined, you can even have both! Which potentially means you don't have to start frothing whenever the one you don't have is mentioned in a HUKD thread...

Nintendo is launching their paid online sub in September so it's probably officially never changing now
