dumb question... if I had a 30 pin cable in my car, would this enable Bluetooth from my phone?

Just re read this - you say cable. So probably an Apple 30pin to 3.5mm Jack you plug into the Car system?

So my Guess it will probably not work. The adaptor needs to be powered from the dock connector to work.

Mind you at £6.99 worth a punt - and return if it not.

won't work on Bose sound dock 1 as that does not supply power to the connector, just in case anybody wondering.

Yes.. Deffo needs to be able to get power from the Apple dock connector. I have plugged in my devices into numerous different docks and have never found one that does not give power.

But apparently there are some. At £6.99 worth giving it a try though. You can always return if you are (very) unlucky.

Poundland sell 30 pin docks .Sweet have some heat

The bluetooth receivers I have give very reasonable sound, probably more to do with the quality of the Docks themselves

I Love you

Had one of these for a while, it's quality. I wonder if the ones you can get on eBay for under £3 would really be any worse though.

The original price is nonsense: I bought one of these from an Amazon seller for a little less just before Christmas.
If your dock is compatible I'd recommend it very highly. I've used it to get sound from an iPod touch, a Nexus 5 phone, a Samsung tablet and even a desktop PC.

The one annoyance is the very bright blue LED.

Just ordered, thanks

nice

i got one from tesco for £1 last year when they were selling them off. got a 30 pin to usb and aux input off the bay and use it in the car works a treat

For all of you who are buying this (and voting thanks) let me know how you get on with it please.
I bought 7dayshop versions (just under £12) a while back and have been very pleased with them to be honest. (I have three)
Have to say these look somewhat smarter than the Homebrew ones.
Be useful to know what people think about the sound, the range, any interference, and mostly how nicely they play with Apple docks etc.
To be able to jointly use the Apple docks around the house with an Android (or any Bluetooth Phone/Player) was quite a revelation.
Certainly cut down on the Apple V Android wars.

oO

Thanks for this - have ordered two: One for my redundant B&W Zeppelin and one for the wife's car which does not like a dock to lightning adapter.

I use one on my Yamaha 5.1 DTS amp, that has a special cable and Apple Dock. I seriously did not think it would work for one second. But having moved the switch on the dock from A to B (no idea) it pinged into life. And the sound was splendid

Works well, plugged in - paired with device and plays any audio from my phone/device to the cars speakers, including digital radio stations and Youtube.
