Use your mobile in Spain and New Zealand for FREE - Three

¡Hola! You can now use your phone or tablet abroad in Spain and New Zealand at absolutely no extra cost with Three. The addition of Spain and New Zealand takes the number of travel destinations covered by the 'Feel At Home' countries to 18.

Three customers can already take advantage of the service in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Macau, Norway, Republic of Ireland, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA.

This is a little lifesaver. Used this in Italy and Ireland this year and it's saved me a fortune in additional roaming fees, and made my life easier to find my way around. Just wish they did free Global Roaming already...

The addition of New Zealand is a big deal, texting from that place is expensive yo...

...sorry, been watching too much Breaking Bad.

^ funny bit is that I re read that after seeing yo in Jesse's voice before reading the breaking bad part lol.......... b*tch

Anyone know if UAE will be on the list?

Just glad they are shaming the other UK operators. Hopefully they'll all start doing it!? It shows it can be done.

Lol! Whoop whoop! I can use my phone abroad yet still can't use it in the majority of places I roam in Cornwall!

Note, I'll give this heat as free stuff is always welcomed, unless it's a burning bag of dog poo on the doorstep..

Using the new call facility in Whatsapp will surely be as much benefit to anyone not on 3 network although contacts also must have it also

only if you have access to wifi, otherwise whatsapp is useless.

3 users on the other hand can just use their inclusive data

If you're on PAYG and don't buy a bundle then, despite Three's costs being no different, they decide you're some kind of lowlife and charge you five times the UK rate.

Nice

Just so people are aware there is no tethering allowed while using the 'feel at home' service and your data allowance is 25gb if your plan is ayce. This service is awesome

I'm going to USA for a month in the summer, and wondered how this works if I get a pay as you go sim? Any help please?

obviously make sure that your phone is open to other sim cards... get a free three sim card, pop it in, put on some money in £5 blocks (do it in £5 blocks because you get 150mb free with every £5 top up) and then spend that money on a bundle - such as the £10 bundle. this will give you free minutes, free texts and free mb 500mb iirc.

im off to magaluf on a stag do in 2 weeks time and ive told all of the stag party about this, so they can get a weeks worth of useage out of a £10 top up. no brainer really.

i can't get a signal in my house with 3 so good luck there

3 simple steps to use your phone abroad at no extra cost.
 Turn on data roaming.
 Travel to a Feel At Home destination.

DIDNT SEE THIS. DATA ROAMING??

I would go for the £15 add on, gives you all you can eat data in the UK, while roaming in the USA this would give you 25gb

That's what I thought. Just seems to good to be true? Just £15 for all that, or am I overlooking something?

Will be interesting to see if this remains post the O2 takeover.

3 may be taking over o2 not the other way round

I didn't say O2 were acquiring 3.

Heat added! Its fantastic Three are gradually adding more and more destinations.

I made use of the Feel At Home service in Hong Kong and Switzerland recently and I must say its so useful to be able to use my mobile data abroad. Word of warning, they do throttle the speed considerably so you won't get 4g speeds as you would in UK but to be honest, you can't really complain, its still usable and extremely convenient when using google maps finding your way around.

I can use my voice and texts abroad on ee for no extra cost, not data though.

get a lot of that in Cornwall?

Seeing that they plan to get rid of the O2 brand entirely I should hope that AYCE and Feel at Home remains. It'd be devastating if they removed both of their key selling points.
With regards to O2, good riddance. Terrible network with a mediocre 3G network that has had very little investment since the early 2000s. The only two good things that Three will gain from O2 is their subscriber base and their (admittedly, very good) 2G network.

It'd be interesting to see what happens to MBNL and Cornerstone when the takeover is done. It will also be interesting to see what happens to O2 Priority. I can't see Three keeping it to be honest. Three Priority doesn't have a ring to it like 'O2 Priority' does.

The calling feature is very laggy, probably cant tell that much if you already like interrupting people.

Whatsapp uses very little data anyway if you turn of downloading images/videos abroad. But I'm in Three anyway so will be making use of this soon!

Is this active from today? Many thanks for posting - the girlfriend's currently in New Zealand!

This became active from 1st April.

I made use of this when I spent three months in Australia. to have 25GB data and all those texts and minutes for £15/month it was easy to keep in contact with home and friends online. The speed was ok when browsing websites but the app store and anything that streamed music/video was completely unusable. it did however roam on Vodafone, Telstra and Optus (Australia's three main networks) depending on where I was.

It's turned off by default. Either request it in your account or call three and ask them to enable it.

Is your house in Spain or New Zealand?

It's not free.

It's at no extra cost.

Misleading title.

Absolutely brilliant from Three, more networks should follow suit.

I'm going Spain, Australia and New Zealand from May until February next year and I will pay £12.50 per month for unlimited internet whilst on the road. Excellent!

About time - other networks should take note

Maybe I am missing something but does this mean a "3 wifi" or dongle unit will work in Spain?

I tethered data in the US in August, it's was from a data only SIM & it was flawless. I haven't yet tried with my AYCE contract though, where was this stated?

i have a good deal with ee but my data goes when i travel so i just use hotel wifi

The best UK network by far, great coverage and decent value packages unlike EE, vodafone and O2.

i bought a micro sim from currys for £3.99 1gb data preloaded, deal posted here last week...going to spain this weekend for 1 week...can i use this data straight away in spain

If you're on Phone SIM PAYG then 3/Three are very good at explaining the various PAYG Add-ons in their Price Guide to get the "Feel At Home" benefits - eg see the detail on page 4 of their PAYG Price Guide (and other pages!)
three.co.uk/_st…272
(otherwise get there quickly via the "Three Price Guide" link in footer on their website - compare finding price guides on EE/Orange/TMobile!)

They're not so clear about those (legacy?) pre-loaded mobile broadband SIMs though. I'm fairly sure they are for UK use only. Think you need to be on contract or PAYG, not pre-loaded. You'd be able to get confirmation from them.

Thanks for posting OP

This is one of the reasons I decided to move over to Three.

Hopefully they decide to add Poland before I go later this year
