Cheapest I've seen for some time.
Personally, I’d just wait for a cheap Rakuten deal and get it brand new direct from Google for £19-23.
Nice. These never come on sale. Heat

I think you are getting confused. Rakuten don't do deals in this. This is a Chromecast AUDIO not a regular Chromecast that does video.

This also you to cast audio only via optical or 3.5mm jack to a hifi or speakers. I have my Google home mini set up to cast music by default to my soundbar via one of these. Also can create speaker groups and cast throughout the home

You can get a normal chromecast to work with Apple music? If that's true, which I doubt, then the audio will work exactly the same.

Sorry, not trying to be a t**t about it, but this is down to apple not supporting Chromecast, not the other way around. Nearly all other streaming services do.

Google Play Music, Spotify, Deezer, Pandora, iHeartRadio and etc.

Many try Google music. Having used apple and GPM, it's just as good.....and works with Google home

No no you are right. I should have mentioned that it works with bbc iPlayer, all4, Spotify etc etc. Of course it does not work with Apple Music. I was using Spotify for years but I have recently switched to Apple Music. I find Apple Music have a crisper sound with a lot more of details than Spotify. Most of audio devices support airplay as well.
I got one basically you need to subscribe to a music platform or it’s useless

There are apps with Chromecast support for playing your own content. 2 I've used in the past were shuttle + and cloud player (need to pay though...) I'm sure there'll be many more available

Not really. Various radio player apps support Chromecast Audio. I use the iPlayer Radio and Radioplayer apps with mine as much as I use Spotify.

Apple music is rubbish. If you want 'crisper' I think you mean higher def then deezer, tidal and qodos all offer higher def and all work with Chromecast.

You can cast your own collection if uploaded to Google play music

Which service have the biggest catalogue?

Biggest isnt always best, as its low quality. All these services have more high def music than apple!
So if you want low quality music and no interoperability the stick with apple, however if you want to stream high def then use a chromecast audio and one of the high def services.
