iPhone X on the O2, Vodafone, 3, EE network is considerably cheaper than Apple's price. Thought it was a good deal. This is for the Mint edition so Grade A. Grade B CEX are selling for £825. Unlocked edition is selling for £900

When you're paying that much for a used phone, you'd be stupid not to pay a little more for brand new.

CeX’s price is more than the new ex. VAT price (if you’re a business). Just buy a new unlocked one if this is what you want. CeX grade A is not mint, I don’t think they understand what ‘mint’ is. It just means good with original accessories

In their defence, CeX will sort you out for blacklisted devices though.

Surely the CeX price includes VAT which you can reclaim if you're a business though.

It includes VAT but is sold under the margins scheme so you can’t. Read their T&Cs.

You have a point there, didn't think of that. Do retailers using the margin scheme have to make it clear on their VAT invoices? Or do they just refuse to provide them because they are on the scheme?

They do tell you they are on the margin scheme but they should make it clear - normally the VAT invoice will show '£0.00' and it should state it somewhere. It's not that well known but it's applicable for second-hand sales most usually seen in pawnbrokers, car dealers and antiques. We use it for our IT hardware a lot of the time, but it's particularly useful when it's C2B (e.g. a consumer selling back to a business, as the consumer generally doesn't have a VAT number). CeX are definitely margin sales.
