I dropped mine recently and cracked the screen. I picked up a new screen and frame off the bay for under £20. I thought I'd replace the battery while I was at it, so I got an oem one for a tenner.

I think that a lot of people would be able to change the battery on a note 5 with a cheap phone tool kit and some double sided tape (to reattach the new battery). The hardest part is removing the back cover, the battery itself is pretty easy to swap out.

I can't imagine the battery on a model of this age would have much in it

Mines two years old and last me the day still.
Moved mine on to my daughter, but is still an excellent phone.
had mine 2 years and a bit, today upgraded to the 7 for the other deal of £95. can confirm after 2 years my 5 battery is dying but what a phone

It seems yours is faring better than many (see below). I'd not buy an old phone used as the battery life is going to be a lottery - you could get a half decent one or it could be a dog!

Each to their own

Yeah, posted earlier on the 8 pro deal about my battery issues with the note 5. Started noticing battery drain about 6months in, now a full charge gets me about half a day with moderate use.
My last phone and still going strong. I gave it to my sister and shge still gets 36 hours out of the battery.

Well done @MrSwitch keep up the good work, thanks.
Had mine a year and half, battery lasts a few days (I don't use many apps though I guess) and still runs smooth. Don't think I've ever actually ran out the battery.
If you like speedy phones - the 636 is slowly starting to show its age.
I actually prefer the RN5 to the RN8 Pro that I replaced it with.

There's just something about the design and the feel of the phone that just makes it a standout phone - even today.

(I also think it is capable of taking better pictures)
Again, ideal kids phone for YouTube and plenty of storage for Minecraft and the gamut of rubbish games they insist on installing

Mine is almost 2 years old as well. I was going to upgrade after a year but it still works brilliantly and battery lasts all day no probs.

Try the latest Gcam that should improve the pictures
Sold mine a couple of months ago at 20 months...battery still lasted the day.
Brilliant phone

Great phone to be sure but I prefer the 8 pro having had both too. I find it a smoother phone, slightly better battery and slightly better cameras.

Has the installation process been simplified yet? (Which specific gcam mod do you recommend?)

Different to each model/phone , try 7.2, guides on XDA and YouTube.
