I found this, this morning on the today only page at Scan, seems a ridiculous price to me for what it is. You need to go to the today only page and click buy to get this price though, it will more than double if you try to add the product from its product page.

Get everyone online at the same time with a USRobotics Broadband Router. Share your broadband Internet connection, data files, network printers, even music and multi-player games. The unique stackable design lets you grow your network with other USRobotics networking and broadband products using minimal space. And an integrated Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall protects your PCs from hackers while maintaining maximum performance. The affordable and easy-to-use design make the USRobotics Broadband Router an ideal networking solution for home/ small office use.

Sadly, the £8.21 delivery kills it for me!
I added it to basket and went to checkout - product still shows at £4.69 (incl. VAT), but total bill is for £12.90.

Seems to be adding £7 for postage?! Total delivered cost = £12.90

Damn, sorry, I didnt realise it was going to cost more to actually send it to us than it did for the product! lol It's still a great price though and for anyone ordering other stuff, it's a nice bolt on. I think the old AV Forums membership still offers free delivery for posting more than 20 comments and sometimes does work when used on goods under £70.

I had the modem version of this router, worst ever product I have had the displeasure of owning... it's the best part of a fiver wasted, even if delivery were free.

no gigabit?

I thought this would be right up your street as it's an unmanaged hub.

Actually £8.21 postage (£6.99 exc VAT).

This is a rubbish piece of kit, I wouldn't have it for free. I assume that's why they are trying to flog them off cheaply.

Indeed - not much point buying that nowadays. Heck, I got a BT Home Hub for a fiver at a car boot sale. I may not be able to use all the features, but it is DSL modem, router, firewall, Dyndns client, switch (2 ports) and WiFi base station in one. Sadly it is also 100Base-T, but with only two port you need another switch (gigabit!) anyway.

Its only a bargain if you have any use for it and really its old technology now.

And bizarrely I actually bought a Homehub off eBay for a fiver to replace the heap-of-junk USR! You can hack it really easily and mine is now a reliable wireless access point, runs four cordless phones for both our landline and VOIP line (both usable simultaneously). And I also have my network-enabled printer and a USB hard-drive connected to it serving my network. Seriously, avoid the USR.

Holy Crumbs these are ancient, I had one about 10 years ago

Not that hot, there's plenty of sun £5 switches on amazon, broadbandbuyer etc

For £20 you can get gigabit (asus Dabs)

whats with all the lover for gigabit routers, get a gigabit switch with decent hardware inside, not some tenner router that will struggle to nat 5 ports let alone at gigabit speeds lol.

and these are ancient, plus its scan for christs sake!

I know, its terrible isn't it, £4.69 and they couldnt even manage to include gig lan, I think we should write to them about it.

A google shows this product is over 5 years old.

I had this router when I was in uni 5 years ago. I seem to remember it did the job.

There used to be a site called homehubhacks but seems defunct now... however there is a load of it at the-scream.co.uk/for…tml, which is for the old white one.

update: check out psidoc.com

It's a lovely set up - though note you can't use it for other ISPs and have the phones working; the thing is a customised Thomson Speedtouch so you need BT firmware for the phones, or Thomson (without phones) for connecting to other ISPs. Since I got it when I moved to cable, the BT one gives me more.
