They came for water. And for food. And as it turned out, we were the food. But humanity bravely resisted - a struggle seen in the hit miniseries V and V: The Final Battle. Yet the war continues.

The heroic conflict comes to a surprising outcome in V: The Series. Once again, Earth is the main battleground. But now the aliens whose human disguise hides their true reptilian natures are wiser. They believe the secret to their survival on Earth lies in the DNA of the newly born half-human, half-spaceling Starchild. They intend to capture her. But that's something the world's Resistance Fighters cannot allow.

Personally I enjoyed this but the way the season ended (or rather didnt, just left teasers) and then the subsequent cancelling makes this an utter waste of money. Studios should give away for free series that they got people to initially watch and then didnt bother to finish off the story.
The original scared me sheetless back in the day. The scene with the ?white? mouse/rat did it for me. Heat for the memories.

Obviously, we all have different opinion..........Firefly was canned after one season and that is the best Sci-Fi series I think I've ever watched (in my opinion)!
I dont see the point of paying for shows that were cancelled without an ending.

Yeah my mistake, noticed afterwards it was classic and this the remake
This is awful, almost to the point of so bad its good, but just failing that and just being really really bad.

Although i lolled a lot at the bit when you knew the visitors were evil because they promised 'universal healthcare'
This was embarassingly bad. The original series was amazing
Was the Complete Series (1984) that you reference in the original post kinda like a continuation of the original '83 miniseries but where the makeup budget had dropped through the floor to like $1.53 per episode? If so I thought it had a certain crude charm to it

The original mini-series came out in 1983......followed by the "Final Battle" three parter in 1984.......I think they were surprised at how succesful it was and rusghed out the originl series (as it came out within 6 months and was really low budget).

This 2008 remake was meant to be in a similar vein to the battlestar Gallactica's 2004 remake.......only, not nearly as good (though I still like it).........worth noting that they are doing another Battlestar remake currently v- and I can't wait!

Yes, but didn't really grab me - give me Firefly, Blake Seven, Battlestar and V any day!

The new Battlestar thing they are doing isn't a remake. It's meant to be set in the same universe as the last one but like a side story apparently

Have to double check I watched both then :-)
Pretty sure I watched what there was but probably binged it back to back

Yeh lol - me too. It used to be shown so late too. It was just the best thing ever and was way ahead of its time. They don't make shows like that any more.

I remember being 8 or something like that and being up extremely late for some reason with my parents in the late 80s. I saw the beginning of what looked like another one of those fun prime time US shows and by the time the intro/recap had finished I knew was never gonna sleep peacefully again. For me it was when he ripped off the Alien's skin mask thing that did me.
Back in the day there was nothing cooler than Marc Singer and them leather gloves.

When I finally got around to watching Firefly I was disappointed. The fanbase make it out to be this holy grail of Sci-Fi. I thought it was meh personally. Might be biased though, I was thoroughly enjoying Dark Angel and Joss Whedon/Firefly were a part of the cause of it's demise.

Enjoyment? Isn't that what you pay for stuff for?

If all you're watching a show for is the destination you're not going to enjoy the journey.
I watched every episode when it came out. I wanted it to continue (same with Flashforward). £9.99 seems like a lot when it's just a season that goes nowhere.
This ended on a huge cliff hanger. I've been waiting 10 years to fnd out what happened!!!

Ask David Icke, he knows all about giant lizards in human skin.

Good but ended right in the middle... so can’t say I have any interest in this sadly.

I might just email him today and ask
I'm guessing this remake also has a highly frustrating cliffhanger of sorts just like the original?, were at the point of production of the final episode they assumed it would continue to leave the story dangling?.

However at least they made the movie serenity to cap off Firefly, I was a massive fan. It's truly shocking how many Sci-Fi series have been canned or unfinished over the years.

"Lolled", oh come on, please at least try.
This is expensive! Just get the DVD for a few pounds from eBay, watch it once and stick it in the draw.

Same for me, but slightly older. It was on late night as it was used as the filler between end of evening schedule and live overnight coverage of the Olympic games from LA.

Ha, me too, we're obviously from the same vintage. Great series, I was mildly surprised years later when I found out that nice alien Willie was played by Freddy Krueger.

I'm gutted that Paul Darrow couldn't get the Blake's 7 remake up and running before his death. The old episodes look dated beyond belief but the stories are still as good as Avon's sarcasm. Fingers crossed someone will revisit it, either from the beginning or after the final scene of the originals.

Avon has to be my all time favourite TV character - never sure if he's being heroic or snide, and each time it came as a complete surprise.
No Ham Tyler?

It was a long time ago but i think I remember it being on during the school summer holidays so me & my brother could stay up to watch.
Best bit of the original 80's TV show is in the intro when Mike Donovan slides off a spaceship and takes out a lizard with his crotch, the look on his face is priceless. 1 min 20 in.
Shame I was enjoying the series until they cut production.
The original mini-series, Final Battle and the follow up series are on Forces TV from time to time.

They're showing the follow up series ATM which is not very good as OP says (budget was cut compared to the mini-series).
