Personal Opinnion - but Slightly disappointed in both M&S and Waitrose this year. Sainsburys and Morrisons seem to offer the best range/value.

    Iceland

There are three set menus to choose from, with each one including steak, chips and peas.

It's the old trick and spoilt for choice.

    Steak, chips and peas;
    Chips, steak and peas; or
    Peas, chips and steak.

This always gets me - never know which one to go for!

Nothing says I love you like "I shopped around and got the cheapest dine in option available"
    blans's avatar
Probably not reveal that if you still want to be together on the 15th too.

The Waitrose one is an absolute steal. £20 with a £16 bottle of booze. My receipt shows £17.70 saved.

Best money-saving tip is to avoid buying when the demand is high/seller's market.

Might be worth adding the Asda deal which is 3 courses plus wine for £15.

Nothing personal but cold from me as I hate Morrisons as their quality is very low and cleanliness of their stores is questionable.

I bought the Aldi tbone on Friday and cooked it Saturday after I coated it un salt and left it overnight in the fridge. It was delicious! Wenr to buy another but they were all sold out today.

Mushroom arancini also very good. The kids loved the lobster pasta. Dauphinoise potatoes were mediocre - not very flavoursome. (edited)

I mean some good deals here but can I trust her to cook it nicely?

Probably not if it’s my wife cooking it for you! It’s not is it?!

  20. markybutt23's avatar
Don’t get tempted into these promotions even if you want to cost each item alone to understand the “saving”. Best to just get what you need outside these offers. 9/10 it will be cheaper. (edited)
    highspire2k's avatar
The M&S options are genuine value I think. Especially as the prosecco/wine alone is half the cost if not more (edited)

Nothing says "Honey I Love You" like a piece of dead animal with some greasy sliced potato.

As opposed to a bit of card with some glitter on it?
  22. miketg89's avatar
The image infers this is a thread for 14 March...
  23. mark9915's avatar
We always get the Morrisons one as we find it to be really good value but this year we have a Waitrose voucher for £15 off of a £100 spend so it’s Valentines dine in for a fiver
    jackvockins's avatar
That's if you plan to do a shop in Waitrose, otherwise it's technically Dine in for £85
  24. TechnoDonkey's avatar
M&S one seems expensive for a meal at home considering that you pretty much need to at least buy some salad or something to make it a ‘proper’ meal. The side alone is never balanced enough for an entire dish.

    Great Post..Thanks..Hot

    Thanks OP for the effort.
Funny how society has changed from years ago eating out on Valentines day,?
Why not at the same time ask, Darling at the same time as cooking this meal can you do my washing, ironing and washing up? 😃
