Valve games have always been awesome!
Doesn't include Half-Life 3 ;p
This is actually a bad deal.
This price is until the 22nd. Don't buy it until the last day of offer because it might come up on the flash sales and be a real bargain
aren't half of the releases in this free anyway?

You only have to click 'get deal' and see the product page to know that isn't the case.

...how? Half Life 2, Portal 2, L4D2 and CS GO would of come to £17+
most people already have more than half of them I would have thought (unless they are fairly new to PC gaming) It isn't a deal that interests them or me. Perhaps good for newcomers to Steam I'm not sure.

Honestly i think this will drop, over the next few days
Cheers op, got a friend that just got on Steam, nice starter pack for anyone getting into PC gaming.
I got this around the time Portal 2 came out and paid the full £50. I do not regret it, Valve are awesome and produce some amazing games! For £17 you'd be mad not to pick this up.

OK, I will bite.
Why is it a bad deal and why do

This is a great collection. Hot and thanks
for the post.

Most of the games are old now, but that doesn't make them bad games. If you only like 3 or 4 on the list it's very likely cheaper to get them separately when on offer.

Plus if you can't get DOTA 2 for free you are doing something wrong.

However, this is certainly not a 'cold' deal.
looks like they ran out of steam.
Their website isnt working at the moment.
Excellent deal, worth buying if you already have some of them anyway to trade or gift away
24 games, 2 + 4 = 6

2 & 4 are 2 numbers

6/2 = 3

Half Life 3 Confirmed!
Great deal for those who don't own any of these, or are new to the Steam experience. This is definitely an awesome introductory deal, especially if you have any friends you'd like to get on Steam. If you already own at least a third of these games, I'd advise picking out the other titles in this list that interest you as you'd probably end up saving a few quid. It depends which games, really.

And yes, while I agree that gifting the ones you already own isn't a bad idea, you might have a difficult time if you're new to trading since most people who visit the Steam trading marketplaces (such as Steam Trades) are on the hunt for less common deals, rather than these extremely common (yet fantastic nevertheless) titles.
Heaty but i would only play 3/4 of them now... too old
Portal 2 is £3.75 at the moment, CS:GO will be on sale later on in the sale (most likely), L4D/2 has just been on sale for a few pounds, and the other games are either free or are pretty old. Not for me this one, but the games are cracking.
Counter Strike: GO - around £4 on sale
Portal 2 - £3.74
Half Life 2 & Ep 1 & 2 - around £5
Left 4 Dead 2 £3.74 (L4D2 contains all L4D1 content)
Dota 2 - Free
TF2 - Free (although this will contain Premium so you dont have to buy anything to get that status)

Total - Around £16.48 when these games are on sale.

Add in all the older games as extras for around a measly 52p
I already bought the cs collection, l4d2 and portal 1+2 this sale for £14.49 so for an extra £2.50 I could have got a load more games. Maybe I should buy this as a gift and get trade the duplicates or something.

Maybe you can give me the duplicates ? :O
A good 'starter deck' of games for steam, but I doubt it will get that many takers as I would think most users would have a few of those already.
This actually is around the same price it would cost to get them all separate as series bundles. Not really any need what so ever to buy the full bundle at once, just buy the separate bundles you want as you want them.
Hot but not hot enough for me to bite yet as a I own a couple already, I think it might go a little lower too.
It's a good price for the amount of games you're getting.

Say you've never used steam before, this is a great price for all these games. I would quite happily pay £17 if I had never played Half Life 2 before

I... actually agree with you! I got all of these( Or at least,Practically all of them) for a bit less than that from various Steam sales. I just picked up Half- Life Complete for about 9 euro a few days ago.

Throw in the fact that two are free, Portal 1&2, L4D2 and Counter-Strike Complete have all been dirt cheap in the past and all you have left are Ricochet, Day of Defeat, and Deathmatch Classic, which really aren't worth it, imo.

I'm old time gamer, I played the original Half-Life when CDs still existed lol. I stopped playing games circa Max Payne. Question from someone that has never used steam. Do these purchases expire? Can these complete bundles be bought on media?
I know there are quite a few classics on the list and would like at some point in the future to sit down and play them all.
I hate the fact that I have already got all these games at the original prices, got vote this as STEAMing hot, if I did not have them, Bingo, it would be my lucky day.
I have all but CS:GO on this list already.

How do you download the free hat ?

1. Purchases do not expire, you have bought a licence.
2. You can get Half Life Orange Box, which has HL2 + DLC, Portal and TF2 normally about £10, as a disc.
Given the number of updates and patches, you might as get the get the digital version.

Great deal if new to PC gaming.
Only worth it if you don't have most of them like I do.

Maybe it's time you stepped away from the computer? I don't think I could play all these games within 5 years with my schedule.
Have the majority of the games !
No need for separate Steam threads.
Just update the main one

Bundles don't let you give away bits you own. Which is just bad marketing imo - it's already stopped me buying about five bundles over the past cpl years.

If you still have your old Half Life CD then dig out the key that came with it and put in in Steam. You'll get all the old (non-souce) games in this bundle. Steam have a contingency system in place to let you play your games in permanent 'offline mode' should they ever go belly up. So as far as anything digital goes there is at least the promise of 'ownership' (of an indefinite license) which beats the normal - "We shut the service down you can't access anything anymore. Oh, BTW we have a new system for you to buy things on, come see."

I don't own any of them.

I'm definately not new to Steam.

So please don't speak on behalf of me. I find most of these games to be old, and not of any interest whatsoever. I'd rather spend £17 to pick up a more recent game which is on offer that I'll actually have the time to play.
