One of the best PC RPG's, now at a great price.

You begin your journey this time in modern day Los Angeles as a newly embraced vampire. By creating you without the consent of your clan's Elders, your sire has violated one of vampire society's most hallowed laws. As punishment for the crime he has been put to death. Normally you would be expected to share the same fate but the newly installed Prince of Los Angeles thinks you might have some merit: you're a newly embraced vampire with no sire to guide you; you are unfamiliar with the world of vampires and their laws and customs. You would be useful and expendable pawn in his grand scheme.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Download Features

* Embrace the darkness as a vampire-Gamers play as a member of one of seven different Vampire Clans, each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Utilizing up to 12 different vampire powers including supernatural speed, invisibility, mind control and superhuman strength, players embark on quests, earning experience points to build their character and increase powers, skills and traits. Eventually they can rise up through the ranks of Vampire Society and become the most powerful creature of the night.
* Next-gen first-person shooter gameplay-Based on Valve's Source Technology, the same game technology used to power Half-Life 2®, Vampire: The Masquerade-Bloodlines features fast-action gameplay, detailed graphics, advanced AI and incredible special effects. Gamers take on enemies in intense first-person action combat, with a combination of vampire powers, hand-to-hand combat and an explosive arsenal of weapons including knives, pistols, submachine guns, stake guns, flamethrowers and more.
* Immersive RPG adventure-Players enter the World of Darkness in L.A.-from nightclubs and secret ceremonial caverns downtown to seedy hotels and exclusive mansions on the Hollywood strip - journeying into an open, "living" non-linear world, where every choice may lead to ultimate power or an untimely end. Gamers can choose a path, where each challenge has multiple solutions and each choice has repercussions - help or hurt the denizens of the world while reaping the rewards or suffering the consequences. Replaying the game making different choices, players will find that characters and the environment react differently depending on clans, abilities and the "reputation" developed during the journey.

Why Cold?

Maybe because it's as buggy as hell. I was really looking forward to this on release and while initially impressed, I was shocked that it was riddled with bugs - performance issues aside, it crashed to desktop far too often to be forgivable. Shame really, because it had such potential.

There is an unofficial patch used by the fanbase that apparently fixes a lot of the problems, but I've not had the chance to verify it.

Wesp's patches are the only thing which makes this game playable unfortunately. This is an awesome game though, so don't let it put you off!

This is way over priced mind you. I brought this game on disc in '05 for a fiver.

Would only buy this from Steam (I have no experience with D2D) if it was a few quid as the amount of discs it contains means it takes forever to install.

This should be a lot cheaper as there is no developer to pay the cash to.

Just looked up on Wikipedia and this a relatively old game launched in 2004. I would have expected this to be well under a fiver. Cold from me...

Used £24 on amazon, £23 use on amazon, ebay prices about £20 buy it now.

I know it's an old buggy game but as said once patched via unofficial patches this is quality!

Have some heat pal!

Thanks for the heads up of the value. I've just listed my copy on Amazon. :-)

You guys do realise that the patches might go straw hats up? This is a D2D version, they usually have separate patches for their games since normal patches install the disc check...

Steam were doing this game a few months back for £2-3, but £7.50 is pushing it a little far for such an old game... dont get me wrong though, its still a cracking play.

not voting either way...

I remember playing (and enjoying) this game years ago, but got stuck after clearing a graveyard of zombies and couldn't progress... whether that was me being thick ,or something to do with the bugs, I don't know Not sure it's worth £7.50 with no discs, though!
