Vango Chinook 200 Tent - £100 from Sports Direct (£90 from Go Outdoors)

Found 10th Aug 2012
Seems like a geat deal for a tent that was once over £300 and still retails for over £200 in most places.
It's also possible to get it for £90 if you have a Go Outdoors discount card as they will price match +10%.
It's not the lightest of tents for backpacking but it's pretty bomb proof from
what I have seen of it so far. It is a proper 2 man tent rather than one that claims to be 2 man but actually only fits two children with no bags.

Product description below:

The Vango Chinook 200 2 Man Tent is strong, lightweight and versatile making it suitable for just about any camping trip. The tent benefits from a durable HD Nylon 6000 groundsheet, sturdy PowerLite Alloy poles and its semi-geodesic structure pitches flysheet first or simply all as one. With a pitch time of only 12 minutes this is a great tent for walkers and climbers.

The freestanding 2 person tent offers a porch and entrance on either side allowing for better access, into a spacious sleeping room with enough headroom to sit comfortably inside too. The tent features Line-Lok guyline runners, Inner tent pockets, multiple reflective points and is supplied with a compression stuffsack.

A HOT deal but as reviews have said, at 3.7kg its a bit heavy to have to carry unless you are going to do a single pitch. And if you are going to car camp then you might as well go for something even bigger (and heavier) as you wont have to carry it anywhere.

It kind of falls into a no-mans-land of tents, but I'm sure it will suit someone. Good find.

A review.
Hope it's more reliable than the helicopter of the same name.
its ok if you,re motorbike, or scooter touring......most racks on scoots have a max of about 6kg...
I took this tent cycling in Europe, although on the heavy side, it is worth the weight for a good stong tent and a good price compared to most tents with this hydro.
A few hundrend grams don't make any real different here and there if you are doing a long cycle tour. It worth it for peace of mind and a good nights sleep.
